Treatment of herniated disc by minimally invasive endoscopic surgery

Lumbar disc herniation is one of the leading causes of back pain, numbness and limited mobility, seriously affecting the patient's quality of life. In the past, traditional open surgery often left large scars, caused a lot of pain, and required a long recovery time. However, with the development of minimally invasive endoscopic techniques, patients now have more opportunities to recover quickly and limit complications.

Master - Doctor Tran Duc Duy Tri, Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology (Thuan My ITO Dong Nai Hospital, Tran Bien Ward) said: Recently, the hospital has successfully deployed single-port and double-port endoscopic techniques through the intervertebral disc to treat disc herniation for many patients. Just a few hours after surgery, the patient was able to walk lightly and was discharged the next day, helping many patients escape the risk of not being able to walk and having to sit and lie in one place.

Dr. Tri emphasized: In the treatment of disc herniation, the primary goal is to relieve nerve compression, help patients reduce pain, and restore mobility. If in the past, open surgery caused patients a lot of pain and took many weeks to recover, now minimally invasive endoscopy has completely changed. With only small skin incisions of 5-7mm, doctors can accurately treat the herniated mass, maximally preserving the healthy spinal structure, helping patients recover quickly and soon return to normal life and work.

Depending on the severity of the patient's illness, the doctor will decide to choose the appropriate type of endoscopic surgery. Therefore, if people have symptoms of disc herniation, they should go for examination and treatment early, should not hesitate because it can make the disease worse, greatly affecting the quality of life.
