A step forward for Hanoi volleyball to reach new heights

Impressions from the first changes

For many years, Hanoi volleyball has always been considered to have a good tradition of training young players, but has had difficulty with resources. The capital’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams have had to “tighten their belts”, depending almost entirely on the state budget. While many other teams have foreign players, Hanoi has never had the conditions to hire foreign players - leading to a significant disadvantage in national tournaments.

In just over 2 months, Hanoi volleyball has officially changed after the Hanoi Volleyball Federation was established. Immediately after that, the Federation supported the Hanoi men's volleyball team to have a foreign player for the first time - striker Kuon Mom, a 1m98-tall Cambodian national team player. Although the professional effectiveness still needs time to be verified, this is considered a turning point, demonstrating a new, professional approach and determination to raise the level of volleyball in the capital.

Not stopping there, the Federation also played a bridging role in the signing ceremony of cooperation between Hanoi Sports Training Center and Tasco Auto Joint Stock Company, officially naming the Capital's women's volleyball team Hanoi Women's Volleyball Club - Tasco Auto. This is the first time a Hanoi volleyball team has had a long-term sponsor, creating a stable source of resources for professional investment and brand development. This cooperation not only helps the women's volleyball team "solve the financial problem" but also opens up a direction for long-term development. It is expected that from 2026, the team will have more resources to recruit high-quality domestic athletes, aiming for the national championship.

President of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation Tran Thuy Chi said: “This is an important first step, demonstrating the Federation’s goal of creating an open mechanism, attracting businesses to join, thereby building a sustainable volleyball ecosystem from grassroots to the top.”

Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Deputy General Director of Tasco Auto shared: “Volleyball is a sport that emphasizes coordination and speed - which is consistent with the values we pursue. We wish to accompany the team for a long time, develop and spread the sportsmanship spirit in the community”.

According to Head of Volleyball Department (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center), General Secretary of Hanoi Volleyball Federation Bui Dinh Loi, after its establishment, the Federation has brought about clear changes, in which the most important thing is that Hanoi volleyball teams no longer have to fend for themselves, but have a foothold for more sustainable development.

Dynamic and effective operating model

Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said that the Hanoi Volleyball Federation is the 25th sports federation of the capital. Although it has just been launched, the unit has created a clear positive effect, from professional support, finding sponsorship to developing the movement. "The federation not only organizes tournaments, but also has to be a bridge between state management, businesses and people. When each sports federation operates in the right role, the movement and high achievements will develop together, creating a stronger sports foundation in the capital", Ms. Bach Lien Huong emphasized.

According to the 2025-2030 plan, the Hanoi Volleyball Federation has identified three key goals: Developing professional volleyball at the highest level, building strong teams capable of competing in national championships; promoting school volleyball, making this sport a popular activity in schools; Developing grassroots volleyball and volleyball, promoting Hanoi's strengths in the field of mass sports. In the coming period, the Federation aims to build the Hanoi Volleyball Center, as a place to train young people, provide intensive training and organize annual tournaments. At the same time, strengthen international cooperation, invite foreign experts to provide technical support, and improve the quality of coaches and athletes.

The story of Hanoi volleyball shows the power of socialization mechanism when there is a transparent and dedicated coordination organization. This is clear evidence that Hanoi sports can grow by itself with intelligence, responsibility and the companionship of the community, towards a modern and sustainable volleyball.

The establishment and effective operation of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation shows that when a sports organization is operated at the right level, with vision and social responsibility, sports are not only a competition but also a cultural bridge, spreading the spirit of community cohesion.
