Officially launched in October 2021, the project Building a sustainable development mechanism for rural handicrafts in mountainous areas of Quang Nam is being implemented in 9 mountainous districts of the province including Hiep Duc, Nong Son, Phuoc Son, Tien Phuoc, Bac Tra My, Nam Tra My, Nam Giang, Dong Giang, Tay Giang with 19 ethnic minorities living there. The duration is 4 years and 8 months (expected to end in May 2026).

According to the representative of the EMMi Project Management Board, compared to the plains and coastal areas, the western mountainous areas of the province have a slower development speed, causing the development gap between regions in the province to widen.

By utilizing the diverse resources and potentials of ethnic minority communities in the mountainous areas of Quang Nam, along with an effective and efficient rural development management system (regarding people, public-private partnership, market and state support)...

After more than 2 years of implementation, the project has achieved certain results, the most prominent of which is the development of local products based on local potential and community-based tourism development, thereby helping to increase people's income, gradually helping to narrow the development gap between regions.
