Building Lao Cai province into a center for international economic trade connections

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan affirmed that the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress, 2025 - 2030 period is an important political event, a great festival of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in the province; a place where the patriotic spirit, the will to rise up and the aspiration to contribute of the people of Lao Cai in the new period converge. This is also an opportunity for the locality to evaluate, honor and continue to arouse the great strength of the patriotic emulation movement; at the same time, to set out new goals, directions and solutions for the 2025 - 2030 period, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress.

Here, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Emulation and Reward Council of Lao Cai province Tran Huy Tuan launched the emulation movement for the period 2025 - 2030 with the theme "Emulation to innovate, create, accelerate breakthroughs to build Lao Cai province into a growth pole, a center for connecting international economic trade, developing in a green, harmonious, unique and happy direction" with 6 key groups of tasks. The Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee called on all cadres, party members, soldiers of the armed forces, the business community and people of all ethnic groups in the province to promote the tradition of solidarity, seize opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges; actively compete, each collective and individual should be a typical example of progress, a nucleus of innovation and creativity; Turn the aspiration for development and the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant into concrete actions and practical daily tasks to contribute to the successful completion of the goals and tasks of the patriotic emulation movement of Lao Cai province in the period 2025 - 2030.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Member of the Central Emulation and Reward Council Nguyen Thi Tuyen acknowledged and commended the efforts, initiatives and outstanding achievements of typical collectives, individuals and advanced models of Lao Cai province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen suggested that Lao Cai province needs to promote the role, results and achievements of emulation and reward work in the period of 2020 - 2025, overcome some limitations and shortcomings as mentioned in the report. Lao Cai province must carry out emulation movements closely linked to the requirements and tasks of the country and locality with new trends of the times so that the movement is practical, deeply penetrates social life and brings practical results. The reward work must be for the right people, the right job, promptly prioritizing collectives and individuals who directly work and produce in difficult fields and areas. In particular, the emulation and reward work must arouse the good values of Lao Cai land and people, creating great strength for the development process. Lao Cai is interested in perfecting the staff doing emulation and reward work; applying information technology in management to reduce time and effort, improving the efficiency of emulation and reward work.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, patriotic emulation movements in Lao Cai province have been widely and comprehensively deployed, associated with the implementation of political tasks, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the whole society. The emulation movements have truly become a driving force to promote socio-economic development, strengthen national defense and security, and build a clean and strong political system. To date, Lao Cai has 37/89 communes meeting new rural standards, accounting for 41.6% of the total number of communes. The whole province mobilized nearly 500 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund and other socialized sources to support the construction and repair of houses, give gifts, and help with livelihoods for tens of thousands of poor and near-poor households. The poverty rate decreased by an average of 4% per year, to 5.71% in 2025. The movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" supported the construction of 26,831 houses, reaching the finish line earlier than planned. In the economic sector, the average GRDP growth rate reached 7.15%/year; the economic scale in 2025 is estimated to reach over 141,700 billion VND (1.65 times higher than in 2020); the average GRDP per capita reached about 85 million VND/person/year.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals of Lao Cai province received the Labor Medal from the President; Emulation Flag, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their many achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in the period 2021 - 2025.

The Congress approved the list of 18 delegates of the Provincial Delegation to attend the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress.
