Nepal’s recent form has been erratic, with surprise wins against Afghanistan and Singapore and heavy defeats against Tajikistan, Malaysia and Laos showing they are still a team in the process of being perfected, but with the potential to cause surprises if opponents are complacent.

On the other hand, the Vietnamese team entered the match with home field advantage and careful preparation. The three goalkeepers, Dang Van Lam, Van Viet and Trung Kien, all had stable performance, bringing peace of mind to the defense. The attack was led by striker Nguyen Tien Linh with great determination.

Notably, both the first and second leg matches against Nepal were held in Ho Chi Minh City, as the away team chose Thong Nhat Stadium as their home ground. This gives the Vietnamese team an advantage in terms of travel, playing conditions and audience support.
