Stirring up "29.75 candidate failed Foreign Trade University", what did the school say?

At this time, when university admission scores were announced, many candidates were "disillusioned" because they failed their wishes despite getting high scores.

Contrary to many predictions, the benchmark scores of top universities this year did not decrease but increased, causing many candidates with impressive scores, if they subjectively only registered a few wishes, to easily fall into the situation of "empty-handed".

In the past few hours, news of a female candidate who scored 29.75 points but failed the Foreign Trade University entrance exam has quickly become a "hot" topic on social networks and caused a stir in public opinion.

Responding to Dan Tri reporter, MSc. Pham Thanh Ha, Head of Training Management Department of Foreign Trade University, said that the school has conducted a preliminary review after receiving information spreading on social networks.

"We have not found any data that matches the information about the candidate who scored 29.75 points failing the Foreign Trade University," Ms. Ha affirmed.

Explaining this case, Ms. Ha gave two possibilities: "Maybe, that candidate did not register for Foreign Trade University. Or with such a high score, they were admitted to a higher choice on their registration list, and therefore no longer qualified to apply to Foreign Trade."

It is known that in 2025, the admission score to Foreign Trade University will be from 24 to 28.5 points. The advanced program of Foreign Economics has the highest admission score of 28.5 points.

Other "hot" majors such as International Business and Business Data Analysis also have benchmark scores of up to 28 points. The remaining majors are commonly at 25-27 points.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the university admission process is carried out on a single common system.

Regardless of how many wishes a candidate registers for, each candidate will only be recognized as admitted to the highest priority wish on the list.

Priority principle of wishes: The system will consider from wish number 1 onwards. If the candidate has enough points to be admitted to wish number 1, the system will automatically stop and the remaining wishes (2, 3,...) will be canceled, even if the candidate has enough points to be admitted.

Similarly, if the candidate's score does not meet the first choice, the second choice will be considered with the same rule.
