iPhone 17 Pro can do what many professional cameras "cannot" do

(Dan Tri) - Apple has just equipped the iPhone 17 Pro with a video recording feature that seems to only be available on expensive cinema equipment that Hollywood filmmakers or Netflix shows often use.

Apple equips the iPhone 17 Pro with Open Gate video recording format, a feature usually only found on dedicated cinema cameras like the ARRI Alexa.

Meanwhile, many high-end camera models still do not support this technology, even large sensor lines like Sony.

Instead of using only a part of the sensor like traditional shooting, Open Gate exploits the entire sensor surface to record. The output video has maximum resolution, is easy to post-process and is compatible with many different platforms.
