Yen Bai promotes the transfer and application of science and technology in production.

In recent years, the agricultural sector of Yen Bai province has directed specialized agencies to strengthen research activities, transfer and application of scientific and technical advances in production. In particular, focusing on research, application and transfer of new varieties and advanced production processes to improve productivity, quality and added value of the province's key agricultural products.

Specifically, the industry directs to focus on improving the quality of livestock herds with advanced breeds such as: foreign pigs with high lean meat ratio, colored chicken breeds with high productivity and quality, and improving buffalo and cow herds using artificial insemination.

At the same time, widely apply industrial, closed livestock farming processes and proactively prevent diseases with vaccines for livestock; improve crop production with high-quality varieties, such as increasing the structure of high-quality pure rice in food production, increasing the use of imported tea varieties, fruit tree varieties with high productivity and quality, imported acacia varieties to improve the quality of planted forests..., apply intensive farming processes to increase productivity and product quality; improve aquaculture production by promoting intensive cage fish farming in large reservoirs, developing specialty aquaculture and cold-water fish farming...

Along with promoting the application of science and technology in production, priority is given to supporting the construction and establishment of intellectual property protection for key products and specialties of the province. In the period of 2021 - 2025, 64 scientific tasks in the field of agriculture and forestry with a total budget of over 39 billion VND were deployed, organizing the implementation of 22 scientific projects on establishing intellectual property rights for local specialty and key agricultural products. To date, the whole province has 57 products protected by intellectual property. Of which, 10 are geographical indications, 22 are certification marks and 25 are collective marks.

The application of mechanization in production has received attention, contributing to liberating labor, reducing intermediate costs, improving labor productivity and production efficiency. Up to now, the whole province has over 21,660 tillage machines, 380 combine harvesters, nearly 1,000 tea harvesters, grass cutters, over 5 Flycams for spraying pesticides...

Propaganda and training activities to help people increase their access to scientific and technical knowledge have also been promoted. Over the past 5 years, the province has organized over 4,400 training courses for over 245,500 people to participate; and disseminated over 46,000 news articles and 88 "What Farmers Need to Know" columns on scientific and technical knowledge of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

In the coming time, the provincial agricultural sector will continue to promote research and innovation in growth models in agriculture; increase the application and transfer of advanced and modern science and technology into production to improve labor productivity and product value.
