“ Hanoi is not only the place where I was born and raised, but also an endless source of inspiration for my art. Every street, every corner has its own story and I feel responsible for capturing that beauty through every stroke of my brush.” That is the sharing of artist Bui Le Dung, a son of Hanoi, who has been attached to the theme of his hometown Hanoi for more than 30 years.

From his first exhibition at the age of 20 in 1985 in Hanoi, Bui Le Dung had an important start, adding motivation to his long-term commitment to art. Looking back, from 1990 to 2020, he diligently created, perfecting his acrylic technique and characteristic realistic style, creating hundreds of works depicting the beauty of Hanoi through the ages.
In December 2024, artist Bui Le Dung and his family opened Van Art Gallery at 10-12 Yen Hoa (Hanoi) with the hope that this place will become a place to display, exchange and share art by the poetic West Lake. The opening of the art events here is the exhibition "Acrylic - Street" with nearly 60 works by artist Bui Le Dung with the theme of Hanoi streets and nature. This is followed by the exhibitions "Calligraphy Painting", "Flower Painting", "April Story" by a number of artists such as Tu Ninh, Doan Son, Vu Thang, Xuan Quyen...

Welcoming the cool autumn of Hanoi after rainy and windy days, artist Bui Le Dung and Van Art Gallery organized the exhibition "Going through summer" at Van Art Gallery.
Still attached to the street corners and roads of Hanoi, 35 works created in recent times contain a mix of new and old, with a hint of the past in the traces of today's somewhat changed life.

With calm, contemplative and affectionate eyes, the artist puts into the neat, compact limits of a few houses, a few walls, a gate… an open look of the continuity of time and space. Everything is there, but it seems to move with the paths leading towards the viewer, the rows of trees seem to connect to create moving green areas and the sunlight sometimes spreads out in spots, sometimes flares up brightly, then suddenly seems to shine, radiates gently, dreamily…
Loving and passionately admiring and experiencing many different moments in Hanoi, the artist "captures quickly", remembers for a long time and vividly depicts the real and longed-for, dreamlike moments of the street.

It seems that in the quiet, peaceful everyday street spaces of the paintings “Yen Hoa Street Corner”, “Lakeside Scenery”, “Hanoi Street”, “End of Pham Hong Thai Street”… there seems to be something connected, intertwined with the vast and quiet sky and water of “Luong Son Scenery”, “Green Grass, White Clouds”, “ Phu Tho Sky and Clouds”…

The natural landscape paintings by artist Bui Le Dung in this exhibition are just highlights in the "Hanoi symphony", but it seems to be an extension of the artist's mind from the streets.
Empty streets, serene streets, natural streets, streets that remind people to relax, slow down to live more with bright, simple moments. The artist shares his concept in the process of creating art: "I believe in the necessity of real experience. Only when we truly love the subject and connect emotionally with it, can we create vivid and authentic works."
The exhibition "Going through summer" runs until October 22.
