11 Vietnamese universities ranked among the world's best

TPO - On October 9, Times Higher Education (THE) announced the World University Rankings 2026. This is the first time Vietnam has achieved a record number with 11 higher education institutions participating.

The 2026 THE World University Rankings list includes 11 Vietnamese universities. This is the largest number ever.

According to the ranking results, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) continues to hold the highest position among Vietnamese higher education institutions, in the global group 501-600. Followed by Duy Tan University and Ton Duc Thang University, both in the group 601-800.

The next positions are Hanoi Medical University (group 801 - 1,000), Nguyen Tat Thanh University (group 1,001 - 1,200), Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Hanoi National University (group 1,201 - 1,500). Group 1,500+ includes Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Da Nang University, Hue University and Ho Chi Minh City National University.

This is the largest number of Vietnamese universities ever to appear in THE's global rankings, showing strong progress in scientific research, internationalization and training quality of our country's higher education .

Top 5 Vietnamese universities on the rankings

THE World University Rankings is considered one of the three most prestigious rankings in the world, alongside QS Rankings and ARWU (Shanghai Rankings).

Notably, THE's 2026 rankings include 2,191 higher education institutions from 115 countries and territories, based on 18 indicators in five main criteria groups: teaching, research, scientific citations, international outlook and knowledge transfer.

According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, this result comes from "systematic investment in the teaching staff, laboratory system and research centers, along with promoting international publications and academic cooperation with schools and research institutes around the world".
