On October 7, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun shared on social media about the company's new flagship model.

“The Xiaomi 17 is a small flagship with a 7,000 mAh battery, so there’s really no need to worry about battery life. I still remember when the project was launched, everyone was very surprised,” said CEO Lei Jun.

The statement of Xiaomi CEO quickly attracted the attention of the technology community, especially after Xiaomi 17 was introduced in China at the end of September. According to information from Gizmochina , Xiaomi 17 has a 6.3-inch screen with a super-thin 1.18 mm bezel, weighs about 191 g and has a 7,000 mAh battery, a rare number in the compact phone segment.

The biggest highlight of the product lies in the new battery technology. The high-end version of Xiaomi 17 Pro uses Jinshajiang batteries with a silicon ratio of up to 16%, helping to increase energy density and extend battery life. The L-shaped battery design and layered packaging technology help save space inside the device without affecting the overall size.

In addition to the large capacity battery, Xiaomi equipped the new flagship model with a 3-dimensional ring cooling system (ring cold pump). According to the Chinese technology company, this design is 3 times more effective than traditional vapor chambers, helping the device maintain stable performance when handling heavy tasks such as playing games or recording 4K videos . The device supports 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, equivalent to many high-end flagship models on the market.

In terms of configuration, Xiaomi 17 uses Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, running the HyperOS 3 operating system based on Android 16. During the launch event, CEO Lei Jun also shared Xiaomi's long-term orientation, in which self-developed chips are a strategic step. He said the company will invest at least 50 billion yuan ( 7.02 billion USD ) within 10 years to research its own chip line, paving the way for its ambition to move into the high-tech segment.

Lei Jun's statement about the 7,000 mAh battery shows that Xiaomi is focusing on a durable user experience, a factor that is often sacrificed in compact phone models. With a compact design, strong configuration and large battery capacity, Xiaomi 17 is expected to help the Chinese technology company compete fairly in the high-end smartphone field.
