Bac Ninh: Summary of smart factory development project

Attending the conference were comrade Pham Van Thinh, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; representatives of the Department of Industry ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd.; relevant associations of Bac Ninh province and 5 enterprises participating in the project, along with consulting and supporting enterprises.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh, along with representatives of the Department of Industry, Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam and representatives of provincial departments and branches, awarded project completion certificates to 5 participating enterprises.

The project was launched on May 19, 2025 with the goal of supporting Vietnamese enterprises in the manufacturing sector to improve management capacity, optimize operations, promote digital transformation and move towards a smart factory model according to international standards.

The project is implemented in 5 enterprises in the Northern region and 5 enterprises in the Southern region. The 5 enterprises participating in the project in the Northern region include: AMA Holdings Investment Joint Stock Company, An Lap Plastic Limited Company ( Bac Ninh ), Korea Vietnam Technical Copper Limited Company - KCT (Ninh Binh), Van Long Technical Plastic Joint Stock Company (Hai Phong) and Vina Technology Joint Stock Company (Thai Nguyen).

After more than 5 months of implementation, the project has recorded many impressive results such as: Successfully deploying a system to display real-time production data, helping leaders easily monitor progress and make timely decisions; deploying a comprehensive system connecting production - warehouse - quality - equipment, helping the factory's intelligence level increase from 1.7 to 2.8; building a system to manage all production activities, from raw material warehouse, production, assembly to shipping; upgrading clean rooms from standard 10,000 to 1,000 class, reducing the rate of foreign object errors by 68.7%; applying an IoT system to collect and analyze real-time data, helping to reduce 30% of process errors...

Thereby, increasing equipment efficiency from 90% to 95%, product quality defect rate reduced by 75%; increasing plan completion rate from 80% to 92%; reducing delivery time, increasing labor productivity... helping businesses optimize production processes.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh and representative of the Department of Industry awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the representative of the Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kim Tea Hoon, Deputy General Director in charge of Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam, said: The project is a cooperation initiative between Samsung Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to improve production, management and digital transformation capacity for enterprises in the supporting industry sector. From 2022 to present, the project has accompanied 82 Vietnamese enterprises on the journey of innovation, building a smart factory platform and training 123 experts on smart factories.

After the project, the consulted enterprises will continue to develop smart factory systems under online consultation from Korean experts to help improve competitiveness, increase the ability to participate in global supply chains, and contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's supporting industry.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh congratulated and highly appreciated the results of the project and the speeches of the representatives of the Northern enterprises participating in the project. The project not only brought about efficiency in production, but also contributed to creating a team of entrepreneurs and producers with good qualities to cooperate long-term with international partners, including Samsung Group.

On behalf of the leaders of Bac Ninh province, comrade Pham Van Thinh expressed his thanks to Samsung Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for implementing this project. Previously, since 2010, Samsung has supported Vietnamese enterprises, from consulting teams, engineering, technology, material, spirit... to existing factories, thereby bringing practical efficiency to Vietnamese enterprises in general and enterprises in Bac Ninh province in particular. Thanks to that, in recent times, enterprises in Bac Ninh province have approached the trend of the times which is to develop smart, automated factories.

In the context of rapidly developing science and technology, comrade Pham Van Thinh hopes that businesses, in addition to maintaining gratitude, integrity in production, and commitment to partners, need to be bolder, more courageous, have bigger dreams and ambitions to be able to expand production scale, diversify products, automate more, strive to develop factories with only administrative staff and planning staff, strategic planning, etc. to minimize manual production. Businesses need to invest in rooftop solar power, self-production and self-consumption to green energy sources and smarten production.

He emphasized that Bac Ninh province is the center of industrial development of the whole country, so he suggested that the Department of Industry and Trade (based on the experience of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the support of Samsung) propose to establish a separate project to develop smart factories in the province to promote the development of smart factories in the province, not waiting for the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade as before. The Department of Industry and Trade should promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee on this project proposal in October 2025 so that the province can have a policy to deploy support and implement.

He hoped that the five enterprises that have just been supported to build smart factories would maintain and promote the results achieved, spread their success, and contribute more to the industry of the northern provinces; the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to pay attention and create conditions for Bac Ninh to implement similar projects so that the province would have more smart factories and enterprises. Thereby, there would be opportunities to break through, rise up, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province and the whole country.

With its active contributions to the project's effectiveness, at the ceremony, the Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Industry and Trade.

In the morning of the same day, delegates attended the summary and report on the results of the 2025 smart factory development cooperation project of An Lap Plastic Limited Company (Bac Ninh); visited the Company's factory at lot E5-5, Dai Dong - Hoan Son Industrial Park, Dai Dong commune (Bac Ninh).
