Issued plan to organize the first "World Culture Day"

On September 25, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Plan No. 260/KH-UBND on coordinating the organization of the first "World Culture Day in Hanoi". This is an international cultural event, aiming to build an annual activity, affirming Hanoi's role as a center of international cultural exchange.

According to the plan, the event is organized in the spirit of "culture is the foundation - art is the means" to connect countries, promote people-to-people exchanges, enhance understanding and trust between Vietnam and the international community. At the same time, "World Culture Day in Hanoi" also aims to improve the spiritual and cultural life and aesthetic level of the people; contribute to building a modern cultural - entertainment ecosystem, keeping up with the global creative economic trend; create momentum for the development of cultural industry, tourism, employment and domestic consumption.

According to the plan, “ World Culture Day in Hanoi” will take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel from October 4-5, with 45-50 booths. Each country will have its own booth, and a “Hanoi Cultural Space” will be arranged to recreate the traditional culture of the capital. In addition, the event will also have programs held simultaneously at many locations, including: Hanoi International Cuisine Program, Hanoi International Folk Dance Program, Vietnamese Ao Dai Performance Program, Hanoi International Book Festival, Hanoi International Book Festival.

Hanoi International Cuisine Program: held at the same time, also at Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The event is expected to have 35-40 booths, each country has a space to introduce traditional cuisine. In addition, three culinary areas will introduce the heritage and cultural practices typical of Hanoi such as green rice, lotus tea, sticky rice; at the same time, organize workshops and culinary demonstrations.

Hanoi International Folk Dance Program: artists and foreign citizens living in Hanoi will perform traditional and contemporary folk dances, in collaboration with embassies and cultural centers of other countries.

Vietnamese Ao Dai Show: held on October 4 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

Hanoi International Book Festival: integrated within the framework of the 10th Hanoi Book Festival - 2025, according to Plan No. 90/KH-UBND dated April 4, 2025. Taking place from October 3-5 in the Hoan Kiem walking street, the event will arrange an area to introduce international books and publications, and organize exchanges between authors and works.

The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to be the focal agency, coordinating with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement the plan, ensuring quality, progress and compliance with legal regulations.

The Department of Tourism is assigned to strengthen propaganda work to domestic and foreign tourists, promoting the image of the Capital as a "Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive" destination. At the same time, the Department directs travel businesses and destinations to build tourism products and improve service quality.

Under the direct guidance of the City People's Committee, the first "World Culture Day in Hanoi" is expected to become a cultural highlight of foreign affairs, contributing to enhancing Hanoi's position in the international arena.
