Before the important competition night, the organizing committee informed about the regulations in the name calling - a specialty of the competition for the contestants in the final night.

Accordingly, director Hoang Nhat Nam - general director of the program said that in the final night of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023, the contestants called out their names in the opening uniform costume.

The contestants' costumes were just dynamic and sexy enough, not too revealing. The music was upbeat and fast-paced to match the costumes and the name calling.

The director also noted that the contestants' names must be called out with professionalism.

"This year, in the final round, we encourage contestants to say folk songs, proverbs or songs that represent the culture of the region where they live.

But not every contestant has such a long name-calling performance, so we are trying to find a way to show it.

In the final, the name calling will take place according to the format of Miss Grand International, contestants are only allowed to call out their name and hometown," said director Nhat Nam.

Candidates read poetry and sing opera when introducing themselves.

Previously, on the evening of August 23, the top 44 contestants of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 entered the final night with two main competitions including evening gown and swimsuit performances, combined with name calling.

Last year, the contestants’ names were called out during the swimsuit competition. This competition caused controversy after the semi-final night, as many of the names were called out excessively and offensively.

Some candidates were even ridiculed online, creating humorous videos .

Le Hoang Phuong is considered one of the most outstanding contestants of the final night of Miss Grand Vietnam 2022.

This year, in this round, most contestants performed more restrainedly, with easier-to-listen voices.

Accordingly, some candidates broke the mold, creating their own mark by choosing folk songs, proverbs, and songs to express the culture of the region where they live.

Nguyen Thuy Duong read two verses, then introduced her hometown Bac Lieu with its characteristic amateur music: "The sound of the stork's lute drifting in a faraway land/ Forever missing a song of Da co hoai lang".

Similarly, Ho Nguyen Hue Anh also made an impression with two verses about his hometown Ben Tre: "Ben Tre, the land of coconut trees/ Standing tall from ancient times until now".

Tran Kha Di from Ca Mau expressed his pride in his hometown through two sentences: "Ca Mau land is full of sun and wind/ Ca Mau girls are both hard-working and lovely".

Contestant Nguyen Thi Diem Quyen talked about her hometown as follows: "Quang Nam land is soaked without rain/ Peach wine is drunk without tasting".

Contestant Tran Hong Ngoc used two sentences: "Long An's rivers and waters are wonderful/ The colors and fragrances of the highlands invite us."

Meanwhile, contestant Bui Thi Thanh Thuy has an advantage in singing, so she performed two verses before calling out her hometown, Phu Yen province.

Judge Do Long commented: "The contestants' names were called out moderately and with enough energy. Some created highlights by reading poetry and singing, which impressed me."

Mr. Duong Trung Quoc evaluated the contestants as creative and self-confident. According to the historical researcher, this may not have been appropriate in beauty contests in the past.
