TPO - Due to the complicated developments of storm No. 12 and widespread flooding, the Department of Education and Training of Hue City has announced that all students in the area will be off school from the afternoon of October 22 and on October 23 to ensure safety.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Hue City, in order to proactively respond to storms and floods, limit damage to people and property, and implement the direction of the City People's Committee, the unit has decided to let students in the entire area stay home from school.

During the school break, schools and educational institutions are required to continue to seriously implement storm and flood prevention work, review facilities, ensure safety of classrooms and teaching equipment; at the same time, coordinate with local authorities to promptly inform parents and students and prepare make-up teaching plans when the weather is stable.

Previously, on October 21, the Department of Education and Training of Hue City also issued a document directing educational institutions to strengthen measures to protect assets, equipment and records, and proactively respond to storm No. 12.

This morning, due to the impact of heavy rain and high tides, many low-lying areas in Hue City were partially flooded, forcing thousands of students to stay home from school before an official announcement from the Department of Education and Training.

In the communes and wards of Quang Dien, Hoa Chau, Dan Dien, Duong No, Thuan An... water rose rapidly, many roads were partially cut off, making traffic difficult.

In Quang Dien commune alone, 1,291 students from Xuan Duong and Quang Phuoc kindergartens, Quang Phuoc 2 and Quang An 2 primary schools, and Nguyen Huu Dat secondary schools had to temporarily close school this morning. Similarly, in Hoa Chau ward, 10 schools with 2,550 students also had to close due to deep flooding.

Storm 12 has not arrived yet, many low-lying roads in Hue have been flooded due to heavy rain and high tides.

Many schools in Duong No ward have urgently moved desks, chairs, electronic equipment, household appliances and teaching aids to higher places to minimize damage.

By noon today, some roads through Hoa Chau wards such as Provincial Road 4, Provincial Road 8B, National Highway 49B and inter-residential routes 12B, Minh Thanh, Thanh Ha, Van Quat Thuong were flooded from 20 - 70cm, many traffic sections were temporarily cut off.
