Cong Thuong Newspaper held the 80th Anniversary Ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City

The 80th anniversary of the Industry and Trade Newspaper's traditional day (October 2, 1945 - October 2, 2025) was solemnly held at Capella Gallery Hall, Hoa Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Head of the Standing Office of the Southern Region, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , in charge of the Southern Region; Mr. Vo Hong Son, Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Central - Southern Region, along with representatives of departments and branches; many editors-in-chief of press agencies, partners, and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City.

Editor-in-Chief of Industry and Trade Newspaper Nguyen Van Minh chaired the ceremony, with the participation of leaders, former leaders, generations of journalists, cadres, reporters, and editors of Industry and Trade Newspaper through the periods.

In the solemn and warm atmosphere of the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Industry and Trade Newspaper Nguyen Van Minh expressed his emotion and sent his deep thanks to the leaders of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly; the attention and direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and ministries, departments and branches from the Central to local authorities; the support of the business community and a large number of readers across the country for the Newspaper.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Van Minh said that this is a meaningful political-professional event and an opportunity for generations of people working for the Industry and Trade Newspaper in the South to meet, review traditions and inspire the younger generation of journalists. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for the team of reporters, editors and workers of the Newspaper to be more proud of the previous generation, with many difficulties from the early days to have the Industry and Trade Newspaper with the position it has today.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Van Minh emphasized that in the coming time, the Industry and Trade Newspaper will continue to promote political awareness, responsibility, and the spirit of innovation and creativity, becoming the leading economic newspaper in the era of national development, following the tradition of previous generations.

On October 2, 1945, Minister of National Economy Nguyen Manh Ha - a member of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam signed Decree No. 08-BKT/VP dated October 2, 1945 on the organization and operation of the Ministry of National Economy, in which the Economic Review Department was responsible for publishing Vietnam Economic Review, the predecessor of today's Industry and Trade Newspaper.

Vietnam Economic Review at that time served the mission of information, propaganda, and production mobilization in the young context of the revolutionary government. Through many stages of development, with many different names associated with the change of the State management agency of industry and trade, to date, the Industry and Trade Newspaper has become the mouthpiece of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, one of the main newspapers in the economic press system of Vietnam.

80 years accompanying the country and the Industry and Trade sector, Industry and Trade Newspaper, although operating under many different names throughout history, has always grown thanks to the efforts, dedication and intelligence of generations of leaders, cadres, reporters and editors.
