Speaking to VietNamNet reporter , Mr. Ngo The Quang, Director of Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Joint Stock Company (the investor directly managing the project), said that the unit has made a plan to repair the broken dam area and sent it to the Department of Industry and Trade of Lang Son province for approval. Once approved, the company will start construction.
According to Mr. Quang, the broken dam area will be filled with concrete and the collapsed and damaged items due to the incident will be rebuilt.
"The estimated repair cost is about 10 billion VND, which the insurance company will cover because the company previously purchased insurance for the project," said Mr. Quang.

The water has now receded and is not flowing past the break point, and the broken area is not expanding.
Mr. Dinh Ky Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Lang Son province, said that the agency has received a plan from Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Joint Stock Company to repair the broken area. The time to repair the dam depends on the consulting unit completing the repair consultation results.
Previously, at 1:00 p.m. on October 7, a section of the dam of the Bac Khe 1 hydroelectric plant broke due to the huge water pressure.
A section of the dam's retaining wall was broken, about 4-5m long and 3-4m deep. The incident caused the central control room to collapse, damaging many of the equipment inside.
The incident caused a large amount of water to overflow downstream, affecting Tan Tien, That Khe and Trang Dinh communes (Lang Son).
