(sonla.gov.vn) On the evening of October 9, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the closing ceremony of the 2nd Xoe Thai Art Festival in Son La province in 2025. Attending the closing ceremony were leaders of departments and branches; artisans, actors of dance troupes in the province and a large number of people and tourists.

After 2 days (October 8 and 9) of the Festival, 13 art troupes, with more than 700 members from communes, wards and clubs in the province participated in 3 competitions: Performing 6 ancient Thai xoe dances; performing Thai ethnic costumes and performing Thai dances.

The Organizing Committee of the competition assessed that the participating delegations had worked hard to collect, practice, and prepare carefully and elaborately, so they had built a participation program with good and unique ideas, promoting the unique values ​​of the xoe dances associated with musical instruments such as tinh tau, khen be, drums, gongs, cymbals, pi pap, bang bu, mak hinh, making their teams' participation program at the Festival special. In particular, many participating delegations showed ideas and creativity in stage setting, performing arts, music , and building beautiful team formations.

The Xoe dances that the groups brought to the Festival were an extremely effective promotion, introduction and honor for a valuable form of community cultural activity of the Thai people in particular, and of Son La province in general, so that everyone could understand, love and be more attached to the traditional Xoe dances.

In the Thai national costume competition, 78 contestants from different teams brought to the festival the beauty of original and modern Thai costumes as well as wedding costumes. Through the contestants' performances, we can see more clearly the eternal vitality of the national culture expressed in the costumes, and appreciate the noble values ​​of traditional culture to be determined to preserve and promote them.

Regarding the Thai dance competition, with 13 Thai dances developed by the research groups based on the movements of the ancient Thai Xoe dance, the performances left many beautiful and unforgettable impressions in the hearts of the audience. The aesthetic values ​​in the art of Xoe dance were expressed through each dance performance, making the art of Xoe dance have a new, rich and diverse development while still maintaining the unique beauty of the Thai Xoe art. Among them were unique performances such as: "Suoi goi mua oc" dance of Yen Chau commune; "Sac hoa khan pieu" dance of To Hieu ward; "Hap nam" dance of Song Ma commune or "Sac hoa van Son La" dance of the Vietnamese Women's Club connecting all directions of Son La...

The highlight of the Festival is the special performances in the Rituals and Festivals section, representing 12 ethnic groups of Son La province. Typical rituals and festivals recreated include: Cap sac ceremony of the Dao ethnic group; Han Khuong festival and Xen ban festival of the Thai ethnic group; Moi festival of the Muong ethnic group; Kin Pang Then festival of the Quynh Nhai white Thai people; Tang Cau ceremony and Het Cha festival of the Thai ethnic group... The participation of the art troupes not only vividly reflects the diverse and rich cultural picture of the ethnic communities of Son La but also honors the traditional cultural values ​​that have lasted through time.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 first prizes for each competition to 3 teams from To Hieu, Yen Chau and Song Ma wards; 6 second prizes; 9 third prizes and 21 consolation prizes to the competing teams. The first prize for the entire group went to the To Hieu ward mass art troupe; 2 second prizes for the entire group went to the Chieng Coi ward mass art troupe, Yen Chau commune and 3 third prizes and 7 consolation prizes for the entire group went to the art troupes.
