Abandoned multi-billion dollar marina in the center of Da Nang

The restaurant and marina project was invested in and built by Phan Van Anh Vu's IVC Company Limited (also known as Vu "Nhom") with an amount of up to hundreds of billions of VND. The project is located in a prime location on Bach Dang Street (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City). It was completed in 2017 but has been abandoned for many years.

The marina is located between the Administrative Center building and the headquarters of the People's Council of Da Nang City, the east borders the Han River, the west borders Bach Dang Street, the south overlooks the Han River swing bridge, the north borders the Han River port - where tourist boats are moored.

After Phan Van Anh Vu was arrested, in 2018, the People's Committee of Da Nang City had a policy of negotiating to buy back this restaurant and marina project with the purpose of renovating its public service function. The estimated cost to recover this project is 100 billion VND, including compensation for investors when constructing the project, without compensation for land due to annual land lease payments. However, the recovery has not been carried out, and this project has fallen into disrepair.

The marina encroaching on the river with a land area of ​​2,100m2 and a water surface area of ​​1,900m2 was licensed and built under the term of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh as Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee.

This is the area where students and residents gather to enjoy the cool breeze in the afternoon. With its beautiful and impressive design, many tourists when traveling to Da Nang City have come here to take pictures.

The safety fence along the Han River bank is damaged and broken, posing a danger to residents and tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chien (residing in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) said: "The city government should soon have a solution to deal with it, because leaving many items of the project to deteriorate is very dangerous for residents and tourists when having fun here. In addition, the project is located right in the center, causing loss of aesthetics and potential risks of social evils."

Previously, the project had security guards and tree caretakers, but now it is abandoned, so there is graffiti everywhere.

Responding to Thanh Nien, a representative of Hai Chau District's leadership said that although the project is currently located in Hai Chau District, it is not under the management of the district government. Regarding ensuring aesthetics, the locality has recently had a plan to collect waste and monitor security and order in the area.

The marina is located in a prime location in Da Nang City. With its three-story architecture and many green landscape designs, it impresses locals and tourists. However, this project has been abandoned after 6 years of disuse.
