According to a VNA correspondent in Germany, within the framework of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra will come to Vietnam to perform two concerts in early October.
This is one of the official activities of the state of Hesse in this year's series of commemorative events.
Two large-scale chamber music concerts will be held at the Hoan Kiem Theater in Hanoi on October 2, and at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on October 4.
The program will include one of the original quartets by the opera composer Louis Spohr, who worked for many years in the state of Hesse; as well as the sextet by the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, written for six instruments including two horns and a string quartet; and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's work for an octet, consisting of four violins, two violas and two cellos.
What is special about this event is that both the Vietnamese Government and the state of Hesse jointly sponsored the costs for the above concerts, including significant support from Vietnam Airlines.
The rich sound of the octet represents the fullness of the orchestra in chamber music. A prime example is the string octet by Mendelssohn, a 16-year-old genius, in which youthful exuberance is combined with masterful compositional confidence.
Meanwhile, German composer and violinist Louis Spohr used eight string musicians in his quartet duo in a different way.
The work is performed by two separate, equal quartets, but with very different relationships to each other. The result is a continuous musical dialogue and extremely effective effects.
In Beethoven's Sextet in E-flat major, a string quartet is combined with two horns, creating a powerful richness of sound. Beethoven himself learned to play the horn at a young age.
The work thus also impresses with the unusual virtuosity of the horn sections and is one of the very special compositions by an important classical composer from the Rhine region.
The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt), founded in 1929, is one of the first radio symphony orchestras in Germany, with a history of more than 95 years, successfully overcoming many challenges to become a leading modern symphony orchestra.
Renowned for its excellent brass section, powerful strings and dynamic playing culture, the orchestra of the German public radio (Hessischer Rundfunk) in the state of Hesse, together with Music Director Alain Altinoglu, offers audiences not only excellent music but also interesting and diverse works.
With its innovative concert formats, successful digital and CD releases worldwide, as well as its regular presence in important musical centers in Europe and Asia, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra asserts its prominent position in the world of European symphonic music and enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide.
Vietnam has been an important and special partner of the state of Hesse in the fields of education, research and technology since 2012.
In 2010, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Federal Republic of Germany diplomatic relations, Hesse State also sponsored a friendly football match between Eintracht Frankfurt Club and the Vietnam National Football Team, marking the first time a Bundesliga football team played in Vietnam./.
