On October 4-5, at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology ( Hanoi ), the program "Mid-Autumn Festival 2025: Fun with Children" took place. Here, families experienced many Mid-Autumn activities from traditional ones such as making to he figurines, making lanterns themselves to modern initiatives such as integrating artificial intelligence (AI) for paper doctors.
The paper doctor is one of the most traditional and typical toys on the ancient Mid-Autumn Festival tray, representing the parents' wish for their children to succeed, and at the same time showing the respect for education that has become a tradition of the Vietnamese people.
This is an initiative jointly tested by a group of students from many universities in Hanoi and the Museum of Ethnology, aiming to breathe new life into a toy that is immobile, somewhat simple and mainly has only symbolic meaning.
Because it is still in testing and gradually being perfected, the AI of the paper doctor may give inaccurate information. Parents who let their children experience it should accompany and explain more so that they can have a more comprehensive view.
Organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival in the museum is also a way to introduce to international visitors the cultural characteristics of the August Full Moon Festival in Vietnam. The star lanterns, lion heads, pomelo dogs and many other typical items have evoked emotions for foreign visitors, creating reflections and exchanges, promoting culture in the most natural way./.
