Ho Chi Minh City will promote the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program with the aim of not only expanding the quantity but also improving the quality, reputation and competitiveness of each product.

Accordingly, the City People's Committee has assigned specific tasks to departments, branches and local authorities to strengthen management, inspection and supervision, and at the same time support OCOP entities to improve capacity, build brands and expand consumption markets.

In particular, the City Department of Home Affairs is assigned to coordinate with relevant departments to appraise the draft decision to complete the OCOP product evaluation and classification Council, ensuring the personnel structure is appropriate to the actual situation after the administrative apparatus is reorganized. This is an important step to improve the professionalism and objectivity in the evaluation, assessment, and star rating of OCOP products.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is identified as the standing agency implementing the program, with the responsibility of advising, organizing product evaluation and classification, and closely monitoring factors related to raw material sources, product origin, food safety conditions, packaging, design, labeling, intellectual property, and environmental protection. These standards will help the city's OCOP products meet the strict requirements of both domestic and international markets.

In particular, the Department of Food Safety plays a key role in periodically checking and monitoring the safety quality of recognized OCOP products. This unit has the right to resolutely recall unsafe products, and at the same time receive information and feedback from the community and the press for timely handling. This contributes to enhancing consumer confidence and increasing transparency in program implementation.

Along with inspection and supervision, the city also focuses on product promotion and consumption. The Department of Industry and Trade is assigned to preside over trade promotion activities, connecting OCOP products with supermarket systems, e-commerce platforms, and modern distribution channels. In addition, the Department also supports OCOP entities in improving designs, enhancing production capacity, developing brands, and expanding markets. This is considered the key for Ho Chi Minh City's OCOP products to not only stand firm but also reach far.

In addition, for specific OCOP product groups such as herbal medicines and cosmetics, the city requires increased inspection and strict supervision. This is to ensure quality, protect consumer health, and open up opportunities for potential products to compete in the high-value segment.

The authorities of wards, communes and special zones are also assigned the task of directly inspecting and supervising the production and processing activities of OCOP entities in the area. This work focuses on food safety, raw material origin and environmental protection. Substandard products will be recalled and widely informed to consumers, thereby enhancing deterrence and creating pressure for OCOP entities to continuously improve quality.

The City People’s Committee affirmed that it will continue to promote activities to support OCOP entities in management, processing, brand building, intellectual property, and environmental protection. This will not only help to upgrade the star rating of the product but also increase the prestige and position of the city’s OCOP products in the market.
