On the morning of October 20, the Council for the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2025 held a working meeting in accordance with Decisions No. 2259 and 2260 of the Minister of Industry and Trade on the establishment of the Council and regulations on the method of auctioning quota allocation. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Chairman of the Council.
After reviewing the list of valid documents, the Council opened the ballots, compiled the results and announced them publicly at the session. As a result, 5 traders won the auction for a total of 100,000 tons of sugar out of the total import tariff quota announced in 2025 of 133,000 tons, accounting for 75.18%, with a total value of 225 billion VND.
Specifically, including: Vietnam Sugar Joint Stock Company 20,000 tons; Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company 20,000 tons; Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company 20,000 tons; Agris Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company 20,000 tons; AgriS Ninh Hoa Import-Export Joint Stock Company 20,000 tons.
All bids and detailed records of each enterprise are kept with the minutes of the allocation session, serving post-audit work and official announcement according to regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, the allocation of sugar import tariff quotas is an annual activity of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, implementing international integration commitments and ensuring the balance of supply and demand in the domestic market. The Council has fully implemented the prescribed procedures, from notification, receiving business dossiers, reviewing participation conditions, to organizing today's auction. The goal is to ensure publicity, transparency, objectivity and compliance with the law, creating a healthy and effective competitive environment for businesses.
Also according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, the 2025 allocation results will be compiled and reported to the Minister of Industry and Trade for consideration and approval according to authority, as a basis for import management in the coming year, contributing to stabilizing the domestic sugar market, ensuring harmonious interests between the State, businesses and consumers.
