Vietnamese women's volleyball team overcomes difficulties before SEA Games 33: Why can't they train abroad?

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team does not have the best squad and did not receive international training during the decisive preparation phase for the goal of winning a historic gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.

Mr. Le Tri Truong, General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, said: "The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is training domestically with 20 players to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. The team will not go to Japan for training as planned, because this period coincides with the Japanese volleyball championship, so Vietnam does not have green players to compete with."

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will choose to train in a locality with similar weather conditions to Thailand, where the 33rd SEA Games will take place. The coaching staff has contacted a number of centers and localities but received feedback that the facilities are not guaranteed. Therefore, it is likely that the team will train at its familiar "headquarters" in Quang Ninh . Finding "green troops" during the domestic training period is also difficult when the teams are in the "camp break" period after the national championship. That is also part of the reason why Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet proposed to call up to 20 players, to easily divide the team into internal matches during the preparation process.

To achieve the goal of winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal, the Vietnamese team must overcome its arch-rival Thailand. In this year's Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League), Vietnam lost to Thailand in the final round 1 and then defeated its opponent in round 2. Coaches assessed that the quality of the Thai women's volleyball team is still better than that of Vietnam, especially when we do not have the presence of Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. Therefore, to make a historic upset at the SEA Games 33, the Vietnamese team needs to have the best performance from its pillars including Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh.
