(Dan Tri) - "Ca Mau is no longer the "end of the country" but has been identified by the Central Government as the "southernmost province of the Fatherland", the gateway to the sea with many outstanding opportunities", according to Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai.

On October 17, the 1st Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, officially opened at the Ca Mau Provincial Convention Center.

Attending and directing the congress was Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Also attending were leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, representatives of ministries, departments, central and local branches and 450 official delegates representing more than 82,000 party members of the entire provincial Party Committee.

The theme of the congress is “Promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition and solidarity; building a clean and strong Party and political system; making breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; taking advantage of opportunities, advantages and potentials of the southernmost province of the Fatherland for comprehensive development, confidently entering a new era with the whole country”.

Ca Mau: New position, new aspirations

From July 1, the new Ca Mau province (merged from Bac Lieu and Ca Mau) officially came into operation with new potential and development space. The southernmost province of the country has a natural area of ​​over 7,942km2 and a population of about 2.6 million people.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that this is the first congress of the provincial Party Committee after the merger, with special historical significance, opening a new development period with the aspiration to bring Ca Mau to comprehensive development.

Mr. Hai analyzed that the merger of the two provinces has created a strong "resonance", integrating inherent advantages and potentials, increasing potential and opening up new development space for Ca Mau.

"The position of Ca Mau today is different from before. Ca Mau is no longer a remote, isolated place, no longer the "end of the country" but has been identified by the Central Government as the "southernmost province of the Fatherland", the gateway to the sea with many potentials, distinct advantages and many outstanding opportunities", Mr. Hai affirmed.

The Congress will focus on summarizing and comprehensively evaluating the implementation of the Resolution for the 2020-2025 term, and at the same time determining viewpoints, goals, tasks and solutions for the 2025-2030 term. In addition, the Congress will also contribute opinions to the Draft Documents to be submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai asked delegates to promote their intelligence, stick to reality to contribute opinions, focus on objectively analyzing outstanding results, limitations, weaknesses, and draw lessons; at the same time, clearly identify goals, breakthroughs and key areas for socio-economic development and improving people's lives.

Towards the positive growth target of the Mekong Delta

The political report at the congress showed that in the 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government and people in the province have strived to achieve many important results.

The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has been implemented synchronously and effectively. Many socio-economic targets have achieved good results, culture and society have made progress, education quality has improved, the poverty rate has decreased sharply, people's lives have improved, political security and social order and safety have been maintained.

In particular, in 2025, the province carried out a revolution to arrange and streamline the apparatus of the political system and organize the activities of two-level local governments, initially achieving efficiency and improving the quality of service to people and businesses.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Responsibility - Breakthrough - Development", the 1st Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, demonstrates the determination and aspiration to rise up and successfully achieve the goal by 2030, Ca Mau will become the growth pole of the Mekong Delta region, the center of rapid, sustainable, comprehensive development, confidently entering a new era of development with the whole country.
