Currently, the water level on rivers from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai is fluctuating. At 1 p.m. on October 20, the water level on the Bo River at Phu Oc station was 2.44m, 0.56m below alert level 2; on the Huong River at Kim Long station was 1.02m, 0.02m above alert level 1; on the Kien Giang River at Le Thuy station was 1.2m, at alert level 1.

Beware of high tides along the eastern coast of the South

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of October 20 to October 21, the coastal areas of provinces and cities from Ho Chi Minh City to Ca Mau will have high tides ranging from 4.05 to 4.1m. The highest tides will occur from 00:00 to 3:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00. Areas at risk of flooding due to high tides are low-lying areas and areas outside the dyke.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 - 72 hours, the highest water level in the Eastern coast of the South will continue to increase slowly. The highest water level at Vung Tau station is likely to reach 4.1 - 4.15m. Warning level 1 for natural disasters due to high tides.

Due to the influence of high tides, the eastern coastal area of ​​the South needs to pay attention to prevent high risks of flooding and dike overflow in low-lying coastal areas, riverside areas, and outside the dike, affecting traffic, agricultural production, aquaculture, water pollution and people's lives in the coastal area.

At sea, there are currently storms in the eastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea, and scattered showers and thunderstorms in the sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai. The Gulf of Tonkin has wind level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 2-4m high.

From South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the wind is at level 6, sometimes at level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-5m high. In addition, on the night of October 20 and on October 21, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have storms; the sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the sea area from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the Central East Sea area will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high.
