Clean-up and recovery activities after Typhoon Matmo are taking place urgently in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China).

Typhoon Matmo has weakened after making its second landfall in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region early on October 6. The cities of Beihai, Qinzhou and Fangchenggang have been severely affected by the storm, according to Xinhua News Agency. (Photo source: Xinhua News) According to the city's Emergency Management Agency, as of 11 a.m. on October 6, the typhoon had affected 10,561 people in Beihai, of whom 10,003 had to be evacuated to safety and about 3,400 hectares of crops were damaged.
Strong winds also toppled more than 4,000 trees in Beihai, blocking traffic. City authorities have mobilized forces to clean up the debris and restore traffic.
