When will the 500 billion bridge at the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City open to traffic?

When will the old iron bridge on Le Van Luong street be "erased"?

In addition to Rach Dia and Long Kieng bridges, on Le Van Luong street - an important route connecting Nha Be district (HCMC) and Long An province, there are 2 old iron bridges that need to be rebuilt soon.

Of which, the Rach Tom Bridge project on Le Van Luong Street was approved by the HCMC People's Council in late 2018 with a total investment of nearly VND497 billion. The project scale includes the construction of a bridge and a 684-meter-long approach road (the bridge is longer than 173 meters).

The project is expected to select a contractor in the second and third quarters of 2024. Compensation and resettlement support will be completed to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024. The project will be constructed in 2 years and completed and opened to traffic at the end of 2026.

Regarding Rach Doi Bridge (connecting Nhon Duc Commune, Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City with Long Hau Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An), at the end of 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport proposed that the City People's Committee allocate about 781 billion VND to build Rach Doi Bridge in the period of 2024 - 2028.

Accordingly, the bridge section is about 452m long and 15m wide (the approach road is about 300m long and 2m wide). In the total investment of the project through Ho Chi Minh City, the cost of site clearance is about 265 billion VND. Particularly, the section through Long An province will cost about 85 billion VND and will be implemented by this locality.

If according to plan, by 2028 all four old iron bridges on Le Van Luong Street will be replaced with new bridges.
