In response to the news that Pho Quang Pagoda, which is over 800 years old (Xuan Lung Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province), was on fire, the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) sent a dispatch to the Department of Culture and Sports of Phu Tho Province, requesting the locality to urgently conduct a site inspection and take immediate measures to protect the National Treasure - the stone Buddha altar.

According to the official dispatch signed by Deputy Director Pham Dinh Phong on October 23, the Department of Cultural Heritage requested the locality to assess the extent of damage and propose a solution, and report to the People's Committee of Phu Tho province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before 10:00 a.m. on October 24.
Previously, the People's Committee of Xuan Lung commune reported on the fire at Pho Quang pagoda.

Specifically, at 9:45 a.m. on October 23, the People's Committee of Xuan Lung Commune received a report that Pho Quang Pagoda was on fire and immediately mobilized rescue forces. When commune officials and residents arrived at the scene, the fire was already burning. The People's Committee of the commune mobilized forces to be present at the scene and used on-site equipment to put out the fire such as: Fire extinguishers, water hoses, buckets, basins... while waiting for the fire department to arrive.
At 10:30, firefighters arrived at the scene and took action, and by 11:30 the fire was completely extinguished.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Lung Commune, said the fire did not cause any human casualties, but the main pagoda was seriously damaged. This is extremely regrettable.
Specifically, the Tam Bao Palace, 27 Buddha statues and other facilities in the pagoda were completely damaged. The national treasure, the lotus stone pedestal, had its lotus petals broken. The estimated damage was about 25 billion VND.
