Nhan Nghia proactively responds to storm circulation

Nhan Nghia commune authorities support households to evacuate from the landslide area.

Right from the beginning of the rainy season, the People's Committee of Nhan Nghia commune issued a decision to establish the Commune Civil Defense Command, assigning specific tasks to each member; developing response plans for each situation, especially in areas with high risk of landslides, rolling rocks and flooding. The commune also signed contracts in principle with businesses with motor vehicles such as cars and excavators to mobilize promptly when natural disasters occur.

Comrade Bui Nhu Khoa - Vice Chairman of Nhan Nghia Commune People's Committee said: Due to the impact of storm No. 10, the locality suffered quite heavy damage when many roads were seriously eroded and flooded at many locations. Accordingly, the commune had to urgently evacuate dozens of households from the danger zone. Therefore, when hearing the news of storm No. 11 coming, the commune proactively prepared plans to respond to the storm.

Before storm No. 11 made landfall, the Commune People's Committee continued to issue Directive Document No. 426/UBND-KT requesting hamlets and neighborhoods to strengthen inspection and review of vulnerable points, closely monitor weather developments and implement the " 4 on-site" motto - on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means and materials, on-site logistics - with the spirit of " 3 readiness " : proactive prevention, timely response, urgent and effective recovery.

Nhan Nghia Commune People's Committee surveyed the area where cracks and landslides appeared in Doi hamlet.

100% of police and military forces were mobilized to patrol, control, set up warning signs and blockades at overflows, areas with fast-flowing water, and points at high risk of landslides to ensure traffic safety and people's lives.

According to statistics, in the commune there are currently 11 underpasses across streams that are often flooded during heavy rains, causing traffic disruption, including many dangerous points such as: Bui underpass, Chong Vong underpass, Don underpass, Am to underpass, Am con underpass, Co underpass, Doi Ca underpass, Vo Co underpass, Bay underpass, Xom Sy underpass and Xom Riec underpass.

Faced with this situation, the commune has deployed forces to stand guard, guide and prohibit people from going through deeply flooded roads with fast-flowing water. At the same time, the Commune People's Committee has directed and mobilized people to harvest rice early to minimize damage; as of October 5, more than 320/634 hectares of rice have been harvested, ensuring safety before prolonged heavy rains.

Heavy and prolonged rain continues to cause landslides in many places in Nhan Nghia commune.

Through inspection, there are 6 points in the commune at high risk of landslides and rolling rocks in the hamlets of Doi, Tre, Don, Chum and Doi Ca. In particular, in the hamlet of Tre, a mountain range of rocks has large cracks and water veins, posing a risk of rolling rocks that could endanger people's lives.

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 11, the Commune People's Committee has developed a scenario to evacuate 60 households with 277 people to a safe place. Specifically, households in Tre, Doi, Don, Chum and Doi Ca hamlets were relocated to cultural houses, kindergartens and safe houses nearby. Particularly in Doi and Doi Ca hamlets, where widespread cracks appeared, the commune immediately evacuated on October 6 to ensure absolute safety.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune Bui Nhu Khoa: Due to heavy rain, the cracks in Doi and Doi Ca hamlets show signs of widening and prolonging, posing a high risk of landslides and a very large volume of landslides, directly threatening the households living below. The commune has calculated a plan to arrange land for these households to resettle if a landslide occurs. Therefore, the People's Committee of Nhan Nghia commune hopes that the province will support funding for the construction of resettlement areas and housing support policies for households that must be urgently relocated due to the high risk of landslides, in order to stabilize the long-term lives of the people.

With a proactive, urgent and drastic spirit , Nhan Nghia commune is continuing to deploy response measures, closely monitoring the developments of floods after the storm, determined to minimize damage to people and property, ensuring safety for people and stabilizing life after natural disasters.
