On October 8, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment sent a document to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province regarding the urgent overflow prevention of the Ha Chau dike, responding to the exceptionally large flood on the Cau River.
Currently, the flood on the Cau River downstream continues to rise; the water level at 5:00 p.m. on October 8 on the Cau River at Cha was 11.47m, at some locations the flood level was close to the Ha Chau dike surface.
To ensure flood safety of the dike line, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to urgently mobilize all forces, materials, means, and emergency equipment to prevent overflow of the Ha Chau dike line at locations at risk of overflow, and prevent floodwater from overflowing the dike toward the fields.
The province reviews reserve materials for flood and storm prevention and dike protection to promptly mobilize and handle dike incidents when they occur.
At the same time, regularly inspect, urge, patrol and guard the dike, promptly detect and handle incidents and situations that may occur from the first hour.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests that Thai Nguyen province promptly report incidents and situations to the Ministry (through the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control)./.
