President Luong Cuong attends the handover ceremony of the first Boeing aircraft to Vietjet

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the morning of September 21 local time (night of September 21 Hanoi time), within the framework of bilateral activities in Seattle, President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the aircraft handover ceremony between Boeing Corporation and Vietjet Air at Boeing's factory in Seattle.

Taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Vietnam-US relations, this event is not only an important milestone of cooperation between Vietjet and Boeing, but also a vivid demonstration of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, contributing to promoting trade, investment and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in the US.

Vietjet officially received the first Boeing 737-8 aircraft in its order of 200 aircraft worth 25 billion USD with Boeing. The new aircraft will be operated by Vietjet in the vibrant regional market, enhancing the experience for millions of passengers. At the same time, the Boeing aircraft will realize the aspiration of expanding the global flight network and developing regional and international sustainability of the new-generation airline.

Speaking at the event, Vietjet Chairwoman Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao emphasized that receiving the first Boeing aircraft from the historic order is an important step in the nearly decade-long cooperation journey between Vietjet and Boeing; and affirmed that this is a new symbol of the Vietnam-US relationship, of the aspiration to conquer the sky, bringing benefits to the economies and people of the two countries.

Meanwhile, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stephanie Pope said that Boeing is proud to be the aircraft manufacturer for Vietjet - a leading dynamic airline and brings breakthrough innovations in aviation services. This is a new milestone, opening the next deliveries, affirming the strong cooperation between Vietjet and Boeing, together expanding the wings to a bright future, contributing to the trade turnover between Vietnam and the United States./.
