Cuban National Assembly Chairman meets with President Luong Cuong

At the meeting, President Luong Cuong warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo to return to Vietnam for a working visit, right after the State visit to Vietnam by First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez; highly appreciated the significance of the visit and the working program of the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Party and National Assembly; and expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to strengthening the solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

President Luong Cuong once again thanked Cuban leaders for organizing solemn rallies in Cuba to celebrate Vietnam's major holidays; assessed that the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries and on all channels of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy have reached new heights, being a model of international relations.

President Luong Cuong affirmed the determination of Vietnamese leaders to deepen and further enhance the effectiveness of cooperative relations with the brotherly country of Cuba in all fields, especially in economics, trade and investment, to maximize the strengths of both sides, to match the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship in the context of the two countries celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).

National Assembly President Esteban Lazo expressed solidarity and condolences from the Cuban Party, State, National Assembly and people to the Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly and families affected and suffering heavy losses caused by storms No. 9 and 10; and believed that the Vietnamese people will soon overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

The President of the Cuban National Assembly sincerely thanked Vietnam and President Luong Cuong for their warm, respectful and thoughtful welcome to the Cuban National Assembly delegation; congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution on August 19 and National Day on September 2; and believed that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will successfully achieve the development goals by 2030 and 2045, meeting the nation's aspirations for development.

Moved by the affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the people of Cuba through the program to support the people of Cuba "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship", comrade Esteban Lazo emphasized that it is a vivid manifestation of the tradition of solidarity, friendship, purity and loyalty between the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Cuba always remembers and appreciates the solidarity, companionship, sincere support and practical assistance that the Party, State, National Assembly and people of Vietnam have given to Cuba in recent times.

The two leaders expressed their appreciation for the exemplary Vietnam-Cuba relationship, which was founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro Ruz and nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; and assessed that the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024 and the visit to Vietnam by First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez in early September created an important milestone for bilateral relations, deepened and strengthened political trust and at the same time opened up new directions in bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.

The two leaders affirmed to closely monitor and direct relevant agencies to effectively implement the commitments achieved, especially on food security, energy security, biotechnology and other potential fields.

President Luong Cuong expressed his delight at the development of close cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies with high-level visits and important cooperation activities, bringing the relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies into depth and effectiveness; and the two countries' National Assemblies' active and substantial contributions to consolidating and strengthening the special, exemplary, and loyal solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

The President stressed that the Vietnamese Government is ready to share experiences and promote multifaceted cooperation with Cuba, especially in areas of mutual interest, contributing to the stability and development of the two countries in the current period, especially sharing experiences and lessons learned by Vietnam in nearly 40 years of implementing the policy of innovation and deep international integration.

National Assembly President Esteban Lazo affirmed that the Cuban National Assembly will continue to cooperate closely in increasing high-level visits and contacts with the Vietnamese National Assembly, promoting exchanges and cooperation between localities and between the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups; implementing the results of the second meeting of the Cuba-Vietnam Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee; creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses operating in Cuba; stepping up propaganda among the people and educating the young generation of the two countries to continue the tradition of relations between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo affirmed that Cuba wishes to consult and learn from Vietnam's experience in innovation and national development, which is an example for Cuba and the world, so that Cuba can overcome current difficulties and achieve the same achievements as Vietnam has achieved.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong respectfully conveyed his regards to Revolutionary Leader Raul Castro Ruz; First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and leaders of the Cuban Party, State and National Assembly.

The President of the Cuban National Assembly respectfully conveyed the First Secretary and President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, to extend his regards and invite President Luong Cuong to visit Cuba at an appropriate time. President Luong Cuong happily accepted the invitation.
