The fact that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to attend the 46th AIPA General Assembly continues to affirm the commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly to actively participate and contribute to promoting the role of AIPA in maintaining peace , stability and cooperation in the region, realizing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and enhancing the central role of ASEAN; supporting Malaysia in its role as Chair of ASEAN 2025 and AIPA-46. Along with actively coordinating with ASEAN countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth, this is also an opportunity for Vietnam to integrate and promote priorities and initiatives, especially on cyber security, new energy, digital economy, etc., linking Vietnam's development goals and priorities with ASEAN.
During the working trip, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is expected to attend the AIPA Executive Committee meeting, attend the Opening Ceremony and deliver an important speech at the First Plenary Session. The National Assembly Chairman will also have bilateral meetings with heads of AIPA member parliamentary delegations and partners.

This is the first official visit of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam to Malaysia after the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (November 2024). The visit takes place in the context of Vietnam - Malaysia relations being at a particularly good stage with high political trust, close economic and investment cooperation, and close people-to-people exchanges. The two sides regularly maintain high-level and all-level contacts, bilateral cooperation mechanisms; share many views and strategic interests on most international issues; coordinate closely at ASEAN and multilateral forums. Economically, Malaysia is Vietnam's third largest trading partner in ASEAN, Vietnam's ninth largest trading partner in the world with a total two-way trade turnover in 2024 reaching 14.2 billion USD, up 12% compared to 2023.
In the overall bilateral relationship, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Malaysian Parliament continue to maintain good cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. The two sides regularly exchange delegations, hold high-level contacts and closely coordinate at regional and international inter-parliamentary mechanisms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), AIPA, etc.
It is expected that during the visit, the National Assembly Chairman will have talks and meetings with senior leaders of Malaysia; meet with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia...
The official visit to Malaysia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man aims to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, thereby promoting cooperation in all fields such as: Politics, diplomacy, defense, security, parliament, economy, trade, investment, labor, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchange... to become more substantial and effective.
