Korean newspaper demands justice for Vietnam team, demands Malaysia apologize
“It would be unfair if the Vietnamese team were eliminated. Malaysia’s 4-0 victory was a farce. FIFA concluded that Malaysia falsified documents,” was the headline appearing in Xports News (Korea) about FIFA accusing the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
The newspaper stressed that Malaysia’s 4-0 victory over Vietnam was the result of cheating. The Korean newspaper wrote: “FIFA has officially confirmed that Malaysia falsified documents during the naturalization process for 7 foreign players. This is clearly an act of cheating by FAM.
According to a FIFA report, Malaysia was found to have abused the “grandparents’ place of birth rule” to naturalize players before a match against Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This rule allows a player to represent a country if their parents or grandparents are from that country. FAM falsified the birthplaces of the players’ grandparents in an attempt to deceive FIFA.
FIFA does not accept Malaysia’s fraudulent behavior. This is not a simple administrative error but a systematic manipulation of the national team’s status that has attracted the attention of the global football community.
Although Malaysia had won the match with overwhelming force against the Vietnamese team, it was the result of cheating. It is time to demand justice for coach Kim Sang Sik and his team when they suffered injustice for playing against a cheating opponent.
The defeat against Malaysia was not because the Vietnamese team lacked skills, but because the opponent deliberately cheated. It is time for Malaysian football people to apologize to the Vietnamese team.”
