BSR's charity trip to the children in the western highlands of Quang Ngai

Every full moon in August, when lanterns begin to sparkle in the city, when the sound of lion dance drums resounds throughout the streets, at Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR), a familiar journey begins - a journey of love, of sharing, of hearts bringing the warmth of Mid-Autumn Festival to poor children in remote areas. This year, Mid-Autumn Festival 2025, that trip has a more special meaning than ever. For the first time, after the two provinces of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum merged into the new Quang Ngai province, the footsteps of the BSR youth group have overcome winding roads, climbed slopes, and crossed vast pine forests to bring a full moon season of love to the children in the mountainous areas in the West of the province.

From dawn, the vehicles loaded with gifts, cakes, lanterns and smiles of BSR members began to depart. The journey of more than a hundred kilometers is not only a geographical distance but also a journey of humanity - where hearts overcome rain, forest, fog to reach the young hearts longing for the joy of childhood. With a total budget of 150 million VND, BSR Youth Union organized the program "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival" in the highland areas of Quang Ngai and directly gave gifts at three locations: Kon Tum ward, Dak Rve commune and Kon Tum Social Protection Center. Every place the delegation passed through left an impression of sharing, of bright eyes, of small hands tightly holding the hands of adults.

BSR cooperated with units to organize and give Mid-Autumn gifts to children in Kon Tum ward - Quang Ngai province.

On the evening of October 3, at 16/3 Square - the center of Kon Tum ward, the atmosphere seemed to brighten up in the drizzling rain. Hundreds of children in traditional costumes, holding lanterns, their eyes shining with anticipation. Under the stage lights, the program "Lanterns light up dreams" was launched in the joy of everyone. Although it was raining heavily, nothing could extinguish the enthusiasm of the organizers, or extinguish the bright smiles of the highland children who were attending such a crowded full moon festival for the first time. Each performance, each laugh, each gift given, all blended together to create a festival full of emotions, simple, sparkling, and warm with human affection.

Meritorious Artist Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Quang Ngai Newspaper, Radio and Television, the program director, could not hide his emotions. He shared: “We sincerely thank BSR and the philanthropists for joining hands to bring the children in the highlands a complete Mid-Autumn Festival. This is not only a material gift, but also a precious spiritual gift, sending the message that every dream of the children, no matter how small, is listened to, followed and supported”.

With the theme “Lanterns light up dreams”, this year’s program has mobilized more than 800 million VND to award 1,800 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts and 300 scholarships to disadvantaged children who strive to study well. Part of which are meaningful gifts from BSR, although small, but contain the feelings of thousands of people who are working day and night in the heart of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, a place hundreds of kilometers away but whose hearts are still directed towards the highlands.

BSR Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Lan Huong gives gifts to children in Dak Rve commune

In Dak Rve commune, where most of the students are ethnic minority children, when the BSR delegation arrived, the Dak Rve Secondary School yard was filled with laughter. Ms. Ho Thi Phuong Hong - Principal of the school shared emotionally: "Our school has 11 classes with 318 students, most of whom are ethnic minority children. The students always try to overcome difficulties to study well, but fun activities like this are really rare. Receiving Mid-Autumn gifts from BSR, we were very touched. Hopefully, hearts like this will always accompany students in the highlands, so that they can feel the care and love of society."

Amidst the vast mountain scenery, the teacher's words were simple yet profound, containing gratitude and hope.

At the Kon Tum Social Protection Center, which cares for 92 orphans, children in especially difficult circumstances and 25 homeless elderly people, the BSR delegation brought not only gifts, but also visits and sharing. Mr. Lam Quoc Hung - Deputy Director of the Center said in a choked voice: "Here there are mentally disabled and sick children, and elderly people without relatives. We are truly grateful that BSR cared for us, visited us, gave us gifts and encouraged us. The gifts not only have material value but are also spiritual medicine, helping us feel warmer in the midst of a life full of deprivation."

BSR Youth Union brings warmth of Mid-Autumn Festival to children in Dak Rve commune

When the group visited the small house where 9 special children are being raised. Some are paralyzed, some have serious illnesses, some only smile when they see strangers... They may not have a normal life, but we want to bring a normal life to them, anchoring in them even the smallest hopes.

Innocent eyes, weak hands holding the hands of the union members as if to say thank you. No noise, no pomp, just silence, and somewhere there were tears falling. Each tight handshake, each gift placed on the bed, was a silent promise, that the members in green shirts would come back, would continue to bring love to this place.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong - Secretary of the BSR Youth Union was silent when leaving the Center. Her voice choked up when she said: We have been to many places, but perhaps never have our emotions been so intense. Seeing the children here, their eyes clear but filled with sadness, I just hope that every full moon season, the children will have someone to visit, have cakes, have lights, and have laughter. BSR always hopes to accompany charitable journeys like this so that every full moon season is a warm season.

Warm Mid-Autumn Festival has come to the children at Kon Tum Social Protection Center

The moonlit night in Kon Tum gradually descended, the full moon seemed to hang between the mountain peaks. In the yard, the lanterns were still shimmering in the hands of the children, and their laughter still echoed. In the distance, the BSR convoy was preparing to return, but it seemed like everyone wanted to stay a little longer. Perhaps because everyone felt their hearts were light and filled with love. This trip not only brought joy to the children in the highlands, but also left in the hearts of each participant an unforgettable impression of sharing, of humanity, of the light of dreams lit up by kindness.
