Teacher cried when receiving 100,000 VND National Day gift: "This is a historic bill"

(Dan Tri) - Receiving 100,000 VND as a National Day gift, teacher Nguyen Khanh Chi kept this bill as a souvenir - marking a new milestone in the country's history.

Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi, history teacher at Huynh Thuc Khang High School, Hanoi, shared her feelings of laughter and tears when receiving 100,000 National Day gifts from the State.

Ms. Chi herself was happy and moved when receiving the gift, not only because of the 100,000 VND, but as a history student and history teacher, she was moved because the state had made a strong economic change.

She recalled the history after the August Revolution of 1945, the state treasury of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam only had 1.25 million Indochinese piastres, part of which was torn money waiting to be exchanged.

The country at that time faced many difficulties and challenges from famine, illiteracy, foreign invaders... Even at that time, the country had to launch a campaign for people to support rice, gold and money through "rice jars to relieve hunger", Uncle Ho practiced and called for "Fasting one meal every 10 days, fasting 3 meals a month".

After 9 years of resistance against the French and 21 years of resistance against the Americans, the country has gradually recovered and risen strongly after decades of hardship and challenges. And now, the country has given back to the people a gift in this meaningful moment of the nation.

For teacher Nguyen Khanh Chi, the number 100,000 VND is very sacred, carrying historical significance and also looking towards the future.

Our people came from the sac of one hundred eggs of mother Au Co, and from a country of just over 20 million people when it first gained independence, we have now become a powerful country of 100 million people.

For her, the number 100 also points towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. After 20 years, there will be many strong changes in the new era, the era of the nation's rise.

“I will not use this banknote given by the government, I will keep it as a souvenir. I want it to become a part of history, the modern history of Vietnam,” teacher Nguyen Khanh Chi expressed.

Ms. Chi said that many of her students happily shared that they had received 100,000 VND National Day gifts from their parents. Many of them asked to keep them in their wallets as a gift of love, patriotism, and luck.

Ms. Truong Thanh Ha, in An Khanh ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that she received a National Day gift of 300,000 VND for her three children, but her husband's household registration is still in the countryside, so his grandparents received the gift on his behalf.

The mother of two said that when she held the gift in her hands, she was extremely moved, filled with gratitude and appreciation. She told her children about the National Day gift she received, about the history, about the country's 80 years of independence.

Many teachers, parents, and students also shared their experiences with the 100,000 VND National Day gift. Some kept it as a souvenir, donated it to charity, some bought a gift for a loved one, or went out to eat something delicious… with very different feelings and emotions.
