Son rushed into fire to save mother and children

Regarding the fire in Quang Trung Ward that killed 4 people and injured 1 person, on May 13, Hanoi City Police are still investigating and clarifying the cause.

Speaking to Thanh Nien , a leader of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee said that the initial cause of the fire could have been an electrical short circuit. "Every day, Mr. Minh and his wife go to work, and the children also go to school. If it weren't for the day off, the incident wouldn't have been so tragic," the leader lamented.

According to the leader of Quang Trung Ward People's Committee, this morning, May 13, when discovering the fire, Mrs. X. called her son for help, but at that time, Mr. Minh had to go out. Because he was far from home, when he got home, the fire had already broken out. At that time, Mr. Minh rushed into the fire, opened the door, but the fire was so hot that he was injured and could not save his mother and children.

"The house had an exit. However, because the family had a small child, it is possible that when the fire broke out, Mrs. X. was confused and could not find an exit immediately, leading to the heartbreaking incident," said the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Trung Ward. The authorities discovered the bodies of Mrs. X. and H. on the 3rd floor, and P. and D. on the 2nd floor.

It is known that the People's Committee of Quang Trung Ward supported the victim's family with 30 million VND and helped Mr. Minh's family with the funeral arrangements for the victims.

Previously, at around 7:45 am today, when discovering fire and smoke rising from a 3-storey house in the area, residents living on Thanh Cong Street (Quang Trung Ward) reported to the authorities to come to the scene to put out the fire and rescue.

Upon receiving the information, Hanoi City Police dispatched the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team (PCCC and CNCH) of Ha Dong District Police, and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Region 4 (under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police) to the scene to perform their duties.

At about 8:15 a.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. However, the fire left 4 people dead and 1 injured.

The four victims were identified as Mrs. NTX (67 years old) and her children NMP (10 years old), NQMĐ (8 years old), NQMH (4 years old). The head of the household, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh (40 years old), suffered burns on both hands and is being treated at Hospital 103. At the time of the fire, Mr. Minh's wife was at work and was not at home.
