Musician, People's Artist Thế Hiển passed away on the evening of October 1, mourned by his family and colleagues. Sharing with Thanh Nien , musician Lê Anh Tú - Deputy Chief of Office of the HCM City Music Association said that musician Thế Hiển was a member of the HCM City Music Association, active in Branch 1. Musician Lê Anh Tú expressed that although he held the role of Branch 1's Head, he still admired the talent and personality of the author of Toc em tui ga.
"People's Artist, musician Thế Hiển is a teacher, a senior in artistic activities. He always helps, teaches, and guides the next generation of students and juniors about his life experiences, composing and performing experiences in classes organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association and on trips to the source, composing with the association. Thế Hiển is always a musician full of enthusiasm for his profession, a person who inspires through his singing, through the melodies with the guitar he always carries with him. On social networks, many singers and musicians also expressed their condolences and grief at his passing. People's Artist Ta Minh Tam posted a clip of musician The Hien performing the song "Singing about him " and expressed: "I miss Mr. The Hien". Under the post, People's Artist Thanh Hoa emotionally commented: "No matter where he goes, the works and voice of People's Artist The Hien will forever remain in the hearts of Vietnamese music lovers. Goodbye".

Musician The Hien's career
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, musician The Hien's real name is Lai The Hien, born on December 8, 1955, in Saigon, originally from Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh province). He completed the intermediate Vocal Music program of the Lotus Art Troupe (1977 - 1980), graduated from the university majoring in Composition (part-time system) of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music (1995 - 1999).
Growing up in the mass art movement since 1975, musician The Hien entered the path of professional performance and composition, joining the Young Composition Club of the City Youth Union since 1978, was a solo singer of the Lotus Group (1980 - 1987), participating in many music programs of the Music Association and art troupes of Ho Chi Minh City.
In 1977, he attended the Intermediate Vocal Music program of the Lotus Art Troupe, trained by famous artists at that time such as Quoc Huong, Thanh Tri, My An, musician Xuan Hong... In 1978, he joined the Young Composition Club of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union at the same time as Thu No, Dinh Huan, Si Thanh, Cam Van...

In 1980, he graduated from the Intermediate Music School, became one of two singers officially selected by the Lotus Art Troupe, became the main soloist of this art troupe, participated in many music programs of the Music Association and art troupes of Ho Chi Minh City.
In 1982, he began his composing career, with his first work When the Balloons Fly, which was well received by the public. In 1983, during a tour to serve soldiers fighting at the northern border, he composed the song Hat ve anh. The song quickly became popular and brought him fame after composing only two works.
In 1986, he and the Lotus Art Troupe performed for the soldiers at the 479 front (Siem Reap, Cambodia) and composed the song Wild Orchid Branch. Once again, his song about the soldier theme was warmly welcomed by the public. Besides, he also composed many songs about the Youth Volunteer theme such as Stories of the past, stories of today, Singing on the green farm...
In 1987, he left the Lotus Art Troupe and became a freelance singer. In 1995, he enrolled in the Faculty of Composition and Vocal Music at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. In 1999, he graduated with honors in both vocal music and composition. In addition to training singers, he spent a lot of time composing songs, participating in field trips, performing charity works, and visiting military units at the border and islands...
Musician Thế Hiển was once recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as "Musician who wrote the most songs about soldiers" (2012). He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 2012, and in 2024, the male musician was awarded the title of People's Artist.
