Ha Tinh police dismantled a large-scale fake medical alcohol production and trading ring.

On July 15, information from Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that the Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) had just dismantled a large-scale production and trade ring of fake, poor-quality medical alcohol.

The Police Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , Smuggling and Environment of Ha Tinh Provincial Police inspected Ethanol medical alcohol products at Ngan Ha Pharmaceutical Investment Company Limited.

According to initial information, on June 5, the Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) conducted inspections at businesses and drug and pharmaceutical retail stores in Ha Tinh and discovered and seized more than 2,000 70-degree and 90-degree Ethanol medical alcohol products, branded Ngan Ha, produced by Ngan Ha Pharmaceutical Investment Company Limited, showing signs of counterfeit and poor quality goods.

Expanding the investigation, the authorities searched the production workshop of Ngan Ha Pharmaceutical Investment Company Limited (in Hanoi ), seizing 13,812 similar products in finished bottles. The results of the examination showed that these products were made from industrial alcohol with high Methanol content - a substance that can cause nerve damage, blindness, and even death if exposed or inhaled.

Authorities identified Pham Dinh Dung (born in 1986) as the director and legal representative of Ngan Ha Pharmaceutical Investment Company Limited. However, all production and business activities were directly operated and managed by Pham Dinh Tuan (born in 1988, Dung's younger brother).

To compete on price and increase profits, from the beginning of 2025 until now, Tuan has directed his employees to buy 99% industrial alcohol (with high Methanol content) to mix and produce finished medical alcohol products, then label them with fake labels and distribute them to the market, consuming them in many provinces and cities across the country.

The Investigation Police Agency of Ha Tinh Province Police has decided to prosecute the criminal case of "Production and trading of counterfeit goods" and continue to investigate and clarify the criminal acts of the related subjects.

Continuing the fight, on June 9, 2025, the Police Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment inspected medical product warehouses in Ha Tinh province and discovered and seized 408 bottles (500ml capacity) of 70-degree Ethanol and 90-degree Ethanol products of AB brand, produced by An Binh Medical Supplies Trading Joint Stock Company (in Bac Ninh province) which were counterfeit and poor quality.

Expanding the verification of origin, the Police Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment inspected An Binh Medical Supplies Trading Joint Stock Company, discovered and seized an additional 4,000 70-degree and 90-degree alcohol products in 500ml bottles bearing the AB brand name, which were fake and of poor quality.

Through initial investigation, the authorities determined that from April to May 2025, Nguyen Van Dien (born in 1988), General Director of An Binh Medical Supplies Trading Joint Stock Company, directed employees to use industrial alcohol (high Methanol content) to produce 70-degree and 90-degree Ethanol medical alcohol products with the AB brand. These products were then distributed to many provinces and cities such as Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Hai Phong for consumption.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Tinh Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and consolidate documents and evidence to handle violations of related subjects according to the law.
