"Diamond War" is funny and dramatic

After the success of “Get Rich with Ghosts” in 2024, the producer continued to release part 2 called “The Diamond War” on the occasion of September 2 this year. Compared to the first part, part 2 increases the drama with many unexpected twists, with many humorous situations that make the audience laugh. The film also conveys many profound messages about greed and life values.

Actress Anh Thu (played by Ngoc Xuan) unfortunately passed away in a car accident and the car fell into the river. On her hand, she was wearing a diamond ring worth 9 billion VND that her boyfriend had just proposed to her. Her body was discovered by 5 people: Mr. Nhay (Hoai Linh), Minh Gon (Tuan Tran), Dang (La Thanh), Tien (Diep Bao Ngoc), Giang (Vo Tan Phat) and they fought over the ring. Suddenly, Anh Thu's ghost appeared and set a condition: whoever brought her body back to her hometown in time to see her dying daughter would be given the ring. All 5 people agreed to go together to bring Anh Thu's body from Ho Chi Minh City to An Giang and divide the value of the ring equally. However, that journey had many awkward and tragicomic situations because everyone had the ambition to monopolize the ring for themselves...

5 main characters in the movie.

The content of part 2 is completely new, independent from part 1. Artist Hoai Linh and actor Tuan Tran continue to play the role of father and son, but in different circumstances than the first part. Hoai Linh plays Ba Nhay, a street photographer, and Tuan Tran plays Minh Gon, a tall but mentally slow-developing and foolish guy. These are two characters that bring many emotions of laughter and tears to the audience. It is still a father-son relationship, but only at the end of the film does the father change his attitude from hate to love by his son's love and sacrifice, from exploitation to sincerity, by being moved by the love and sacrifice of his son. The reason for the hatred is finally revealed, helping to explain the strange father-son relationship of these two characters. Tuan Tran has made progress in acting when he boldly reinvented himself in the role of a foolish, honest guy who longs for fatherly love. The remaining four characters all have clearly developed personalities and have a lot of room to act. In which, Vo Tan Phat as Giang has escaped from the comedy role to take on the role of a villain with a distorted mentality. Diep Bao Ngoc successfully transformed into a beautiful but greedy girl named Tien, who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

The five characters create a multi-dimensional picture of human nature. In the end, when all the “cards” are revealed, all the calculations of gains and losses suddenly become a joke, because “man proposes, God disposes”. And everyone has to pay the price for their actions and mistakes. The film makes viewers reflect on greed, on family, on love, on the value of true happiness.

As a road comedy, “The Diamond War” is filled with laughter from beginning to end, from the awkward situations to the character’s behavior, dialogue… Towards the end, the drama of the film is pushed higher with many “twists” that take the audience from one surprise to another.

Compared to part 1, the movie script is more thrilling, attractive, and humorous. However, the movie still has some "flaws" in some details. Especially, the characters are pushed too far, making them fight each other but in the end no one is injured; and the audience still does not understand why Minh Gon, who is naive and not greedy, deceives everyone with his intention... But in general, the movie meets the entertainment needs of the majority of the audience well and achieves a good revenue, not less than the first part.
