Former US Vice President Pence could announce his entry into the 2024 White House race as a Republican candidate next week.
Former US Vice President Mike Pence will launch his 2024 campaign with a video announcement and speech in Iowa on June 7, sources familiar with the matter said on May 31, adding that Pence chose the timing of the announcement on his 64th birthday.
"We see the race for the White House as wide open and Iowa as a key state. This is where Pence's traditional conservative principles are valued," said an anonymous source familiar with the former US vice president's plans.

Mr. Pence plans to campaign in all 99 counties of Iowa, while his campaign will do everything to help the former US vice president have an advantageous position.
Mike Pence served for decades in the US House of Representatives and four years as governor of Indiana before serving as vice president under former President Donald Trump. Mike Pence has long been considered one of the voices of the Republican Party.
When he enters the race for the White House, Mr. Pence will face many challenges in the Republican primary selection round with a series of formidable opponents. The rift with former President Trump after the Capitol Hill riot in January 2021 may also cause many people to turn their backs on him.
