Báo Tổ quốcBáo Tổ quốc15/02/2025

(Fatherland) - Da Lat City (Lam Dong) and Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) will stop piloting the operation of 4-wheel electric tourist vehicles, because both localities do not have roads with a speed limit of 30 km/h.

At the request of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, from February 15, Da Lat City Tour Company Limited and Tinh An Tourism Development Investment Company Limited will stop piloting the use of four-wheeled vehicles running on electricity or gasoline engines to transport tourists in Da Lat City.

The above suspension of operations is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and the Road Law. The Department of Transport of Lam Dong province was also assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and the People's Committee of Da Lat city to study and advise on the operation of four-wheeled motor vehicles in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and the Road Law in accordance with the actual situation in the locality, before February 25.

Currently, in Da Lat City, there is no road with a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h for all vehicles. The two businesses mentioned above have piloted electric tourist cars in the city with 75 cars. Of which, Dalat City Tour Company Limited has 50 cars since 2018, and Tinh An DVL Development Investment Company Limited has 25 cars since February 2024.

In Khanh Hoa province, in Nha Trang city, there is no road with a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h for all vehicles. According to Decree 165/2024/ND-CP, electric tourist vehicles of participating units in the pilot project in the city will be temporarily suspended from February 15.

Currently, there are 3 units participating in the pilot operation of four-wheeled motor vehicles in Nha Trang City: Sao Mai Service Company Limited, Nha Trang Seafood F17 Hot Spring Tourism Joint Stock Company and Hai Dao Tourism Joint Stock Company with a total of 33 vehicles.

Mr. Chu Van An - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Transport of Khanh Hoa province, said that the Department has sent a document to notify the pilot units and transport business units of the above content.

According to Mr. Chu Van An, during the recent pilot implementation period, 4-wheel electric tourist vehicles contributed to meeting the needs of people and tourists in Nha Trang City, reducing environmental pollution. However, there are still some problems in the operation process such as many limitations on technical safety when participating in traffic; low mobility, so it is easy to cause congestion; compliance with regulations on permitted routes is also limited.

In the coming time, the operation of tourist electric vehicles must comply with Decree No. 165/2024/ND-CP. Specifically, they can only operate on routes with signs indicating a maximum operating speed of 30 km/h, and the operating time and scope are regulated by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province. In addition to tourist electric vehicles, people and tourists can still choose buses, electric buses, open-top buses, taxis, electric taxis, cyclos, etc. when they need to visit the coastal city of Nha Trang./.
