Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress: Opening a new era of development

VTV.vn - On the morning of October 15, the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, held its closing session.

This is the first congress of Ho Chi Minh City after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , marking an important turning point in the city's development process.

Affirming strategic vision

After 3 working days (from October 13 to 15) with a spirit of urgency, seriousness and high responsibility, the Congress was a great success, completing all the contents and programs set out.

At the closing session, the Congress introduced the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Committee for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 16 members, and announced the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Delegation to attend the 14th National Party Congress, consisting of 75 official delegates, 5 ex-officio delegates and 9 alternate delegates.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - Tran Luu Quang - called on the entire Party Committee and people of the City to join hands to complete the Resolution of the 1st Party Congress.

The Congress focused on discussing documents and passed the Resolution of the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress - a resolution that converges the will, aspirations and political determination of the entire Party, government and people of the city in the new period, with 30 main targets, 3 strategic breakthroughs and 10 key tasks and solutions.

These are strategic decisions of the Party and State, demonstrating a long-term vision, with the desire to build Ho Chi Minh City into a new driving force of the whole country. At the same time, it is also a historic step, opening a new era of development, towards the goal: "For the happiness of the people, for the whole country, with the whole country - the City develops rapidly, sustainably, integrated, modern and humanely".

Speaking at the closing session, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - Tran Luu Quang - emphasized that the greatest and most important result of the Congress was achieving a very high level of consensus in will, awareness and action; consensus in comprehensively assessing the results of implementing the Resolution for the 2020-2025 term, while objectively and frankly recognizing the limitations and shortcomings.

The Congress also clearly defined the motto, goals and strategic orientation for the next 5 years, along with a longer-term vision - a new era for the city with aspirations to reach regional and international levels, and develop rapidly and sustainably.

The City Party Committee's Inspection Commission was introduced to the Congress.

The City Party Secretary said that, besides great achievements and new opportunities, the city is also facing many difficulties and challenges - from the impact of the world situation, economic fluctuations, climate change, to increasingly high requirements on development orientation and the fear of making mistakes and fear of responsibility.

He emphasized: "Without high political determination and strong innovation in thinking and leadership methods, it will be difficult to complete the great goals and tasks set out in the Congress Resolution."

The Party Secretary also affirmed that the greatest resource of Ho Chi Minh City is not capital or infrastructure, but people - dynamic people who dare to think, dare to do new things and are ready to take responsibility for the common good.

To put the resolution into practice, the City Party Secretary assigned the new Executive Committee and Party committees at all levels to urgently organize learning, thoroughly grasping, and concretizing the resolution's spirit into practical action programs, avoiding dispersion and formality.

"All cadres, party members and people of Ho Chi Minh City should continue to promote revolutionary traditions, creativity and loyalty, proactively seize opportunities, overcome challenges, compete to successfully implement the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City to develop sustainably, reaching regional and world levels," Mr. Tran Luu Quang emphasized.
