Reporting at the meeting, the leader of Tam Hai Commune People's Committee informed that the Tam Hai steel-hulled ferry from Tam Quang to Tam Hai has been damaged since November 8, greatly affecting the daily life and production of the people. In recent days, people have had to use small boats and ships to transport students and people back and forth. This poses many potential risks to traffic safety.

The local government is urgently directing the repair of the damaged ferry, striving to return to operation on November 18 to serve the travel and freight needs of the people and to construct projects in the area. In the long term, the locality has submitted design documents to build two new ferries with a total cost of about 25 billion VND and is waiting for the Department of Registration to evaluate and approve.

In addition, the ferry route to Xuan My village, which was socialized and bid for private operation by the District People's Committee, is also facing difficulties because its inspection certificate is about to expire. The ferry route to Long Thanh Tay has stopped operating, affecting the travel needs of the "oasis" people.

Local leaders also reported difficulties related to clean water for the people, cemetery land fund, wharves and infrastructure for tourism development and a number of urgent socio-economic issues in the island commune that need to be resolved soon.

Quickly resolve urgent needs

During a field inspection at Tam Hai ferry terminal, anti-erosion embankment works and some areas in the commune, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet shared the difficulties of the government and people of Tam Hai island commune.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested the locality to focus on urgently repairing the damaged ferry route and soon put the ferry back into operation to meet the needs of the people. In the immediate future, find vehicles to support people's travel, ensure absolute safety during operations, and not operate to transport people in dangerous weather conditions.

The Provincial Party Secretary directed the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district to coordinate with departments and branches to work with the Registry Department to ensure the progress of the construction of the new Tam Hai ferry. At the same time, it is necessary to urgently organize mobilization, if necessary, to carry out enforcement to construct the embankment of village 4. Direct the contractor to deploy construction to complete the embankment project of village 4 in 2024.

"The government must have necessary warnings for the people, promptly review and resolutely take action to eliminate 3-no fishing vessels, and mobilize people to strictly comply with regulations against IUU fishing. Regarding clean water, the Provincial People's Committee directs departments and branches to research, have directions for organizing operations, or possibly socialize, to somehow allow people to use clean water. We cannot let water reach our homes but people cannot use it" - Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said.

Requesting local leaders and departments to pay attention and support in helping to resolve urgent difficulties and obstacles in the locality, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet also expressed his belief that Tam Hai with its great potential and advantages will be an attractive tourist destination in the next 5-10 years.
