VTC News sources confirmed that Ho Chi Minh City FC and Adriano Schmidt had a meeting on the evening of July 3 - also the deadline for registering new players for phase 2 of V-League 2023. However, the deal officially fell through when the two sides could not reach a financial agreement. Ho Chi Minh City FC was not willing to spend a large amount of money for only 1.5 months of Adriano Schmidt's playing time.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City FC showed interest in two national players, Adriano Schmidt and Cao Van Trien. Binh Dinh FC only agreed to loan Adriano Schmidt. The German-born midfielder is also ready to try his luck at a new team.
