HNN - The North-South high-speed railway project passing through Hue City is a strategic infrastructure project, opening up a new development momentum for the entire region. The North-South high-speed railway project is a modern transport route, playing a vital role in connecting key economic regions, contributing to the goal of rapid and sustainable development, ensuring national defense and security, international integration, environmental protection and responding to climate change.

The project, when implemented through Hue City, will be over 95km long, with a total investment of about VND 5,907.7 billion, affecting over 1,255 hectares of land, affecting over 8,550 households, and having to relocate over 10,570 tombs. The city plans to build 22 resettlement areas with a total area of ​​about 66 hectares, ensuring the principle of "better than or equal to the old place of residence", along with 6 new people's cemeteries, with a total cost of site clearance of over VND 1,419 billion, with the goal of completing and handing over the entire cleared site by the end of 2026.

In My Thuong ward, where one of the two main stations of the railway line passing through the city is expected to be located, Chairman of the ward People's Committee Doan Van Sy said: The express central station promises to turn the area into a vibrant economic and service space. People are hopeful that the appearance of the station will bring along many invested infrastructures, bustling trading services, and creating jobs on the spot. People are very sympathetic and supportive of the project implementation.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc, My Thuong ward, expressed: "I have been attached to this area all my life. Now that I hear that there will be a big train station, many new services will spring up, and there will be more livelihoods for my children and grandchildren, I am very happy."

Party Central Committee member, Chairman of the People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hue City Le Truong Luu emphasized in a recent related meeting: Implementing the North-South high-speed railway project is a strategic task. Localities must be urgent and transparent in site clearance, resettlement with clear progress, synchronous planning of infrastructure and cultural institutions. It is necessary to promptly allocate capital, manage material mines, select capable contractors, and prevent profiteering. Strengthen propaganda, mobilization, dialogue, and create consensus so that the project can be implemented on schedule, bringing long-term benefits to localities and people.

Strengthen propaganda to create unity

In order to create unity in awareness and action, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee has issued a plan to propagate and mobilize the implementation of the project throughout Hue City. The plan emphasizes four key tasks: Providing complete and accurate information on the objectives, significance, scale, and policies, helping cadres, party members, and people to understand correctly and support highly; encouraging and mobilizing households in the affected area to actively coordinate and comply with site clearance, compensation, and resettlement; promptly grasping thoughts and aspirations, quickly resolving problems, limiting the occurrence of complaints and denunciations; proactively refuting false information, preventing sensitive issues, and ensuring local security and order.

The requirement is that propaganda forms be deployed in a variety of news, articles, and reports on the press system, electronic information portals at all levels; organizing people's meetings, direct dialogues; publishing publications, billboards, and posters; through political and social organizations, religious dignitaries, and prestigious people; strengthening social media communication...

In fact, in localities where the railway passes through, the authorities have been proactive and quick to take action. In Quang Dien commune, on the evening of August 28, the People's Committee of the commune organized a meeting with households affected by the project. Representatives of the Project Management Board and specialized agencies provided specific information on the scale, progress, support and resettlement policies. The majority of people expressed their agreement and made clear recommendations on compensation prices, resettlement locations, and ensuring long-term livelihoods.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dien Commune Nguyen Anh Cau said: "We listen fully to the opinions of the people and coordinate closely with the authorities to ensure the legitimate rights of each household. All compensation, support and resettlement policies are public and transparent, ensuring the rights of the people and creating conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule."

Ms. Hoang Thi Hoa, Quang Dien commune shared: "At first, when we heard about the clearance, everyone was worried, but after the commune officials explained the compensation and support policies, we felt much more secure. I hope the project will be implemented quickly, not making people wait too long."

In Hoa Chau ward, Party Secretary Tran Ngoc Duong also said: The locality has proactively grasped the thoughts and aspirations of the people to promptly adjust the appropriate plan. The locality also focused on promoting propaganda so that people clearly understand the importance and long-term significance of the project. At the same time, listening to people's opinions, synthesizing and proposing legitimate recommendations to superiors, both ensuring progress and stabilizing people's lives.

The North-South high-speed railway project through Hue City, when completed, will not only create strategic transport infrastructure but also be a breakthrough in the local socio-economic development. With high political determination, synchronous participation of all levels and support of the people, Hue aims to implement the project on schedule, effectively and humanely.

On August 19, 2025, the People's Committee of Hue City held a groundbreaking ceremony for 4 technical infrastructure projects for resettlement areas and cemeteries serving the site clearance of the North-South High-Speed ​​Railway Project through Hue City, including: Phu Da resettlement area, technical infrastructure area of ​​Loc Tien resettlement area (phase 2), technical infrastructure area of ​​resettlement residential area 06 in Zone B - An Van Duong New Urban Area and Phong Hien People's Cemetery.
