On October 8, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , said that he had just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposing the policy of using the old Le Loi Hospital's real estate to establish a specialized Obstetrics Hospital; the old Ba Ria Hospital's real estate to establish an additional facility of the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, through a field survey and a meeting with the leaders of Vung Tau ward, the Department of Health noted that in the Ba Ria and Vung Tau area, there are still many land locations that can be added to the land planning for the health sector. For now, there are two real estate facilities of Ba Ria Hospital (old) and Le Loi Hospital (old) that have not been reused after the two general hospitals above have moved to new facilities.
Through discussions and listening to the expectations of the authorities and people in Ba Ria - Vung Tau area, the use of the above two real estate facilities should be prioritized for specialized hospitals in the fields of oncology and obstetrics. These are two specialties that for many years, the health sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (formerly) has encountered many difficulties in human resources, so it has not been able to deploy, people have to go to upper-level hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City for medical examination and treatment. This causes many difficulties for people and overloads the hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.
Faced with this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has issued a document requesting the city leaders to approve the policy for the final specialized hospitals in obstetrics and gynecology (Tu Du Hospital or Hung Vuong Hospital) to deploy a second facility at the old Le Loi Hospital (address 22 Le Loi Street, Vung Tau Ward). Tu Du Hospital and Hung Vuong Hospital are self-financed public service units of group 1, so they will use the Hospital's Career Development Fund to deploy the second facility, not using the city budget.
In addition, it is recommended that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City approve the policy for the Oncology Hospital to deploy a second facility at the old Ba Ria Hospital (address 13 Pham Ngoc Thach ward, Ba Ria ward).
“This conversion is completely appropriate when these lands have been approved for detailed planning 1/500 in Decision No. 4316/QD-UBND dated June 10, 2025 of the People's Committee of Vung Tau City (formerly) and the planning project to become a hospital has been announced. At the same time, it is consistent with the orientation of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector on improving medical capacity in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area (old)”, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong informed.
At the same time, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong affirmed that after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the policy, the Department of Health will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to develop a project to establish a second facility of the final specialized hospitals at the old Le Loi Hospital and the old Ba Ria Hospital to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and approval.
