March and April are the ideal time to travel to Dien Bien, especially when all the villages, hills, roads, and street corners are covered with pure white Bauhinia flowers.

From mid-March, the white flowers of the Bauhinia tree begin to bloom all over the villages, hills, and roads of
Dien Bien . For many years, Bauhinia trees have become a symbol and brand of Dien Bien tourism, attracting many tourists from everywhere to come every March and April. The Tay Trang International Border Gate area is a place with many rows of Bauhinia trees blooming in pure white.

On the way from
Hanoi to Dien Bien, visitors can admire rows of white blooming Bauhinia flowers along Pha Din Pass. The highest point of the pass is 1,648 m above sea level, with a cliff on one side and a ravine on the other. This is one of the “Four Great Passes of the Northwest” with winding curves along the mountains and hills. When Bauhinia flowers are in full bloom, the majestic pass seems to become more poetic and gentle.

Dien Bien has many forests of Bauhinia flowers located throughout the districts such as Muong Cha, Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong, Tua Chua... In the city, the flowers are also planted on many roads and street corners such as Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Huu Tho, Him Lam area - the gateway to Dien Bien Phu city... In the picture are many-year-old Bauhinia trees in the border commune of Na U, Dien Bien district.

The many-year-old forest ban trees lying between the hills have shed all their leaves, their flowers are blooming, forming clusters that sway in the wind.

Bauhinia flowers are associated with the culture of the Thai ethnic community. In the minds of the Thai people in the Northwest, Bauhinia flowers are associated with the story of the pure and faithful love between Ban and Khum, a symbol of the desire for love and happiness in marriage that has been passed down for generations.

Early morning is the time when the Bauhinia flowers give off the most fragrant scent. This flower is not only beautiful but through the skillful hands of the Thai people, the buds, flowers, and young leaves of the Bauhinia tree all become delicious and unique dishes.

To honor the beauty of mountain flowers, Dien Bien province often organizes the "Ban Flower Festival" every March.

The 2024 Ban Flower Festival will welcome more than 80,000 visitors to Dien Bien. Total revenue from tourism activities will reach 140 billion VND. This is an opportunity to promote tourist destinations, attract international visitors and boost domestic tourism, contributing to making tourism a key
