On the afternoon of October 5, leaders of Kien Hung Commune People's Committee inspected and directed the work of overcoming landslides and reinforcing key dikes, proactively responding to storm Matmo (storm No. 11).
Kien Hung commune currently has 11.6 km of dikes, including 6.6 km of Van Uc left dike and 5 km of back dike in Tan Trao commune (old). The whole commune has nearly 800 hectares of rice land, of which about 500 hectares have flowered, more than 100 hectares of rice and crops outside the dike; nearly 50 farms, more than 80 livestock farms, more than 340 hectares of aquaculture are areas directly affected if storms and high tides occur.
Identifying the safety of people and production as the key task, on October 5, the People's Committee of Kien Hung commune mobilized 30 people from the Economic Department, militia and self-defense force and Ky Son village to urgently reinforce more than 30 meters of dike at Mom Hau sluice by covering it with tarpaulin, preventing tidal water from seeping into the dike body, limiting erosion, and ensuring the safety of the dike when the storm makes landfall.

Organize continuous propaganda on the commune radio system and social networks. Check the warehouse of materials and equipment for natural disaster prevention. Instruct fishermen to tie down their houses. As of 4 p.m. the same day, all 22 boats in the commune returned to safe anchorage.
The Commune People's Committee has prepared an evacuation plan for 189 households that need to be relocated from unsafe areas. Of these, 136 households with 290 people have unstable, dilapidated houses that are at risk of being unsafe; 53 households with 142 people live in watchtowers, makeshift camps along rivers, along dikes, and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Prepare a centralized evacuation area at Dai Ha Secondary School and Ngu Doan Secondary School when instructed.
